Arrow Anyone problems with canoe on roof?

I want to put my 16' or 18' fiberglass canoe on the roof of MT Sport (strapped to roof rack). Travel time would be about an hour, once per week. Has anyone experienced any problems? Just concerned that it may be too heavy or affect handling considerably

I don't haul a canoe, but I think that the weight limit is pretty low for roof loads on the Fit. I carried a steel security door on my Fit's roof rack that weighed about 80 pounds on the freeway and it was fine. I don't know what a fiberglass canoe weighs, but I would bet that it is under 80 lbs. ? Your handling may suffer a bit from side winds due to the canoe's length.

So far, there seem to be no canoes on my roof. I will keep an eye open, though.
