Check Engine Light

My 2012 Fit (45K miles) had the Check Engine Light come on. The dealer diagnosed it as "PO171 lean condition." They did not have time to research any further so they told me to come back. The next day I fill up with fresh fuel and the light goes out and stays out. Could bad gas have caused this?

Thanks in advance for your response.
Patrick

The answer has got to be 'yes', possibly some water in the fuel? or an airlock? See if it happens before your next fill, maybe a vent problem.

You might want to check out a thread in Gen 3.
2015 Honda Fit running too lean.

OP has had similar problem, and a difficult time tracking down the reason.

Just food for thought...this came at the same time that most of the country is getting switched to winter blend fuels. Maybe it took the car a cycle or two to adapt to the lower energy content?

Thanks all,
Currently all is good. Fresh gas seemed to cure it but it could've been the fuel cap. Air filter was filthy possibly (Oregon Wild Fire ASH?).

Check Engine Sign Flashes on Honda Fit GP5

Hi,
While I was driving the car, it felt the car didn't start accelerating when I pushing the accelerator. Its kind a didn't move and had some kind a jerks and stopped. I switched off the engine and restart the vehicle. Then it's start good and there was no sign of any issue but the engine check sign is on. I just manage to drive it back home like 8 Km without any issue. Could anyone suggest me the possible reason for the same.

I'm driving long distances and i have like 110 KM completed. is it all right to use the vehicle or should i prefer a service agent asap?

Thanks,

If the car is running as you described I'd recommend getting it checked as soon as possible. There's a couple faults that can cause a really rough engine without even throwing any codes or triggering a check engine light. In many cars a fuel pump is one. Vacuum leaks are another. If any recent work has been done, inform the mechanic so that they can verify that it was done properly first. Veteran mechanics can still forget the occasional hard-to-see vacuum hose, like the one under the backside of the intake plenum that connects to the valve cover. Or an intake boot with its clamp left un-tightened.

Planning a long trip while health is questionable is asking for trouble, friend. It finds everyone eventually, so there's no sense seeking it out.
