BTW, I had to look this all up as well. I've only seen our TPMS light, but not the low pressure light since I check tire pressure regularly. The TPMS light comes on if I stray too far from home.

I keep the stock wheels stacked in the garage with the TPMS sensors and don't get the light as long as I just drive around town and then park the car back by the sensors. Cheating the system. LOL

 

For USA cars:

2008-2013 use direct TPMS which uses a pressure sensor inside each tire and has BOTH of the dash lights pictured below

2015 and newer use indirect TPMS.....which does not have actual sensors in each tire. This system only has the low tire pressure light.

I know IMO unfortunately-IMO_ the Gen 3 has the indirect monitoring system and the Gen 2 and earlier has the more traditional direct TPMS monitoring system, but that's only a means to an end.
Didn't know it would result in an extra or secondary indicator light.

But I've been wrong before.

My apologizes to everyone. I try not to post without knowing what I'm talking about. And I did try to google the information and could find nothing on the TPMS light.

I even owned a Gen 2 and did not know this.

TPMS clearly stands for "Toilet Paper Missile System." The light generally means you're either out of TP or you have a roll clogged in the cannon. Will need service before you try to launch TP at any more slow moving vehicles or pedestrians.

Personally, I have had all four sensors go bad (2011 Sport 67,000 miles), individually over a 2 yr period, after I had new tires installed. So, I paid for tire install / balancing / reprogram the computer twice for each wheel after replacing the $50 OEM sensor. What a racket.

My wife has a 2009 CIVIC and those sensors keep going (107,000 miles). My TPMS batteries must have been ready to die when installed at factory.

The dealer came up with a new scam this last time that made me literally laugh out loud when the counter-guy said it (after going through this process 3 other times). He said that when one sensor needs changed, "all" sensors have to be reprogrammed into the computer (four times the cost of doing only one).

I had the last single sensor programmed a local garage for 2/3 the price of the dealer's single wheel price.

Again, this TMPS system really "pulls" a lot $ out of your wallet if you pay attention to it or like my wife did: drove 300 miles at 70 mph with the low tire pressure light on and then wondered the next day why her tire wouldn't hold air. It was a Bridgestone Driveguard and it was heat blistered inside and ruined. After getting it replaced, I asked about it and she said "Oh yea", there was some sort of light on the dashboard but I didn't know what it meant so I just kept driving. Geez.... Call me or look in the manual, those lights mean something!

Anyway, Bridgestone Driveguards are advertised to go ~50 miles at ~50 mph to get you to a safe spot to fix the tire problem. This tire went above and beyond. Knowing who I'm dealing with, I'll always put those tires on her car.
