Tire pressure sensor problem
Hi all,
Has anyone experienced this problem?
My '13 Fit frequently shows the tire pressure warning light. At our first oil change the dealer checked everything (I presume) and told us that it was due to 'temperature changes' All was okay for a wile but then the light came on again... checked all tires, added a little air to one, light went off - came back on again after a few miles. Checked the tires again and all...
I was almost due for the second service at the dealers so I waited to have them check it. Dealer says 'It's a defective sensor, replacing it will be $180.00!" My car was a few days out of warranty!
They did agree to replace the sensor at no charge, after shaming them a bit.
But I am wondering, anybody else having problems with the tire sensors? Going forward I sure do not want any $180 dollar surprises.
Thanks all and happy FITing.

That's one of the things I hate about those TPMS systems. There are little battery powered transmitters sending pressure info to the computer inside each tire. Batteries don't last forever, and the little suckers are expensive to replace.
One of mine failed at 4 years, so I feel your pain.
One of the reasons I like my new '15 Fit. No sensors in the tires anymore. The '15 uses the ABS sensors to compare the rolling radius of the four tires.

my '12 has the factory sensors, no issue on mine. ive had issues where the seals started to leak on 2 of them and i got those replaced under warranty (at a local discount tire).

Thank's Uncle Gary.
They didn't say which sensor (I will ask) but I have been wondering about the two rears... I replaced both due to a road hazard blow out which happened when I was on vacation and far from a Honda dealer. They did a great job with the tires but ya gotta wonder - do they know how to handle the sensors?
