Front brake caliper 2012 Fit

I was just curious if any of you guys have experience problems with seizing or stuck front brake calipers on your second generation Fits. My vehicle has about 82000 miles on it, and I have replaced the brake pads once at this point. I haven't done anything for over 2 years regarding brake repairs, however today I was surprised to find that my right front caliper had started to seize up and I had a little bit of smoke coming from the right front wheel area when I stopped to inspect it. The wheel was very hot to the touch of course. I noticed it as I was driving on the freeway and I heard a loud roaring noise coming from the front. I have not disassembled anything yet, but I was just wondering if you guys have seen this before? I was very surprised to see this. There is nobody in the area that even stocks a caliper for this vehicle. Including Honda dealerships.

Rock Auto is the best I've found for stuff like calipers. I replaced both of our fronts because, from day one, our passenger side pads have worn faster than our drivers side. Rebuilt and greased the passenger side many times through the years, but it never helped.

Put reman calipers on it about a year ago, but I'm not sure if it's fixed. Not enough miles yet. I'm not sure if it was a sticking caliper or a brake bias issue. This is all on a GD, not a GE, but similar issue.

The issue was a torn caliper piston boot on the right front and the piston was seized. I picked up a reman one for 60 bucks and all is well now. The pads and rotor were fine.

I have a 2011 Sport with almost 68,000 miles and recently changed the pads since I had the wheels off for rotation (probably still good for another 3000 miles - might put them back on in the spring . My calipers have been operating fine and pads have worn evenly.

I'd trying to "exercise" the caliper piston before throwing in the towel and buying a reman part (I've had good luck with reman). Remove the caliper from the bracket and keep the brake line connected. Have someone slowly push on pedal while you watch the piston move out, then stop - don't pop the piston out of the cup. Use a "C" clamp to push the piston back into the cup until it is flush with the cup lip. Repeat at least twice - sometimes I'll rotate the cup but don't scratch the piston surface (doesn't look professional). Reassemble the whole thing and see if it remains free. If it locks up again, replace it.
