Cruise Control Issue

I have a 2008 Base Honda Fit with a weird Cruise Control problem. The dash light for the cruise control only turns on when the steering wheel is at a certain angle, I also cannot engage the cruise control when the light is not on. Any information would be appreciated, also apologies if this topic was previously solved but I wasn't able to find anything similar so I decided to post.

sounds like a clock spring (cable reel) problem.

I agree with benchph. There has to be wiring running up the steering column to the wheel and the cruise control buttons: start / stop, accelerate / decelerate. Sounds like a broken wire or wore contact that only works in one particular position.

If you mess with it, make sure the airbag is disarmed.
