Intermittent No Cruise Control

Intermittent No Cruise Control
I'm having an intermittent issue with an inoperative cruise control on my 2012 base model Fit with 5 speed manual. About 50,000 miles on it. The issue is happening maybe once every week or two.
What happens: the 'CRUSE MAIN' light is on but pressing 'DECEL/SET' does nothing and the 'CRUISE CONTROL' light will not come on. Pressing the the 'CRUISE' button will toggle the 'CRUISE MAIN' light but still no cruise control operation.
The only way I've been able to restore the cruse control operation is to turn the engine off for a few seconds and then crank the engine again. It then works fine with no other issues.
No Malfunction Indicator Lamp and the car otherwise drives fine, gas mileage is still the same as when new.
Suggestions or comments welcomed.
