Air Intake and Exhaust Modification causing 02 sensor code
Hello fit forum,
Picked up a 2008 Sport MT at an auto auction. The previous owner replaced the air intake, the headers and the muffler/tailpipe as well as lowering the vehicle. The engine light came on as I pulled away from the lot. The codes were P2A00 and P1172. I am worried that the system is running open loop. The car was sitting for a while with a full tank of gas therefore I added some seafoam. Is the O2 sensor code a product of old gas, the modified air intake/exhaust, a faulty O2 sensor or a combination of those things? I'm going to burn through this tank and add some premium fuel to see if that helps. I have the old air intake and exhaust parts if any of you think it would help to put them back on. Suggestions are greatly appreciated. I purchased this car for it's fuel economy and although it's fun to drive modified it's not worth it to me to burn through gas. Thanks!

Have you tried clearing the codes? I have done lots of exhaust work on my jdm ge6 and those on cvt are very sensitive. Every time I swap a exhaust manifold or cat, it will need a code clearing. I’ve also added a defouler for added measure.

Make sure you use the same brand sensor that Honda installed from the factory. It's either NTK or Denso. You may need to remove yours and clean it with a wire wheel to find the brand name stamped on it.
Each brand has a website you can look up the part number for your sensor.
