Been a FitFreak member since 2010, just bought a 2009 Fit!
Just bought a 2009 Fit Sport. 99k miles and white.
Well okay I put $2000 down and will pay the rest next week.
The thing has some issues with little scraps and what not. The front bumper has damage they are going to fix.
Out the door it was $7647 with everything.
Car cost was $6654, plus I asked them to do the valve adjustment with a new gasket, which cost me $230.
I tried to buy private party, but I kept getting the run around, so I got stuck with the dealer tax.
I assume people just don't want to part with their Honda Fit's
They told me it has new tires, windshield wipers, oil was changed. Not sure what else, but it drove pretty well. Harder of course up hill with three people on the test drive.
Might have a little of the micro stutter some of you have described when it needs new coil packs. I'll probably change them myself as the first major project before winter.
Been car-less for the past 6 years, but before that I've changed spark plugs on my last two cars. Never knew you were supposed to use a torque wrench...lol
Bought three harbor freight torque wrenches. Hopefully they work.

Also the carfax has a lot of reported dealer maintenance. One owner.
Only one interesting entry:
29,895 miles
-Maintenance inspection completed
-Engine overhauled
-Paint sealant / protection applied / reapplied
I don't know what paint sealant is, but engine overhaul (entire factory warranty) sounds bad.
Any ideas?

Just curious what was wrong with it.
It could have been this recall:
11V101000
Recall Date
02/17/2011
Component
ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING

Picked my car up yesterday on Saturday. They did a little more body work than they said they would. Repaired a crack in the rear bumper and totally replaced the front one!
It drives a lot different than my moms Mazda 3 with the steering mainly. Driving home on the parkway made me nervous. Now day two, today I went to get gas (dealer only gave me half a tank) and I'm a little more comfortable with it. Just need more time.
It seems to have drove a little better than the test drive, so I think the valve adjustment had some positive effect.
I checked out the fluids and as they said it was all topped off, but the engine coolant reservoir seems too close to the minimum to my liking. I'll keep looking to see if there was leak.
Missing the spare tire tools (jack stand tool and tire iron), though it has the jack and tow hook. I found one on eBay that said it was from a crashed 2009 Fit. They had a picture and the front was messed up. Ironic that the tools end up in another 2009 of the same white color.
Also missing a clip on the engine air filter assembly. I already ordered the $8 part. They did change the air filter, which is good. They didn't clean under the filter, which is bad. I cleaned it out and put the filter back in.
Pulled the cabin air filter and it was pretty bad with some leaves and sticks, which I assume were once attached to the leaves.
I cleaned it out for now and ordered a Fram filter (with baking soda)! It wasn't available locally, but a generic one was, that was $10 more than Amazon. I'll just wait.
Removed the dealers license plate holder advertisement and there was grease above it. And I thought they detailed the car
So I get to wash the car tomorrow and then maybe do some (Taffeta White) touch up paint here and there.
Also have to do some shop vacuuming. Seems to be some hair on the rear seats. Maybe the previous owner had a dog?
Car is nice!
Certainly my best car so far and that list includes a brand new 2001 Kia Rio!
Happy fitting!
PS: When changing or checking the engine air filter, remember to reconnect your MAP sensor.
On the bright side I learned how to clear my first Honda Fit computer code today!

Automatic. I'm 36 years old and can't drive a manual...lol
Congrats
My 09 Fit Sport MT SSM just turned 10. Make sure the tranny has been serviced, I had my heater blower motor replaced on warranty.
90k and still getting 35mpg around my end of town. Oh yeh, I'm 69 and still love shifting but rarely drive much in stop and go traffic anymore
Retirement is bliss

Kind of sad.
When I was growing up, my parents had both automatics and manuals. But learning to drive, meant learning to drive BOTH.
My early vehicles were manuals.
It was OK for me to learn how to "Drive" with an automatic, but it wasn't considered that I knew how to DRIVE until I had mastered a stick shift.
