Lower Engine Cover

Lower Engine Cover
The previous owner to my 09 Fit, never had the lower engine cover installed. I'll be installing a new one with all new OEM clips, screws, nuts. Some ppl have told me lower engine cover can increase fuel economy, I was curious to know if this is true?

Even the partial belly pan that Honda made for the Fit will help increase your fuel economy. However since it still has a large hole (gap) right under the engine and the rest of the underside isn't particularly aerodynamic, this increase will be very marginal - maybe 1-2%.
It's difficult to quantify and record these type of things.
I highly doubt you will even notice much of a difference, unless you drive mostly highway and feather the gas pedal according to the instantaneous fuel consumption gauge.
On a more positive note, you might enjoy a reduction in road noise.

Just noticed you're a fellow Canadian and live in a particularly cold part of the country.
You can try a full or partial lower grille block during the winter months when it's constantly below freezing.
I've done mine for a couple bucks over the last 2 winters with decent results, simply with pipe insulation from Home Depot stuck inside the grille openings (no glue, no ties):
It also helps warm up the engine faster and allows me to blow hot air inside sooner than before.
I have a ScanGaugeII installed to keep an eye on coolant temperatures. I've had to remove one pipe insulation piece on long highway drives during warmer winter days, but with my grille block this literally takes 3 seconds.
