Starting issue different keys
Starting issue different keys
Hey, kind of a weird story so stay with me. Typically I use "key A" for driving, etc. This morning (for whatever reason) I used "key B" to unlock my doors and brush off snow. So again, I am going to work. I use "key A" to start, lights come on, all electrical, but no crank. So I was thinking that's really odd, so I decided to use "key B" the one I used to unlock the car, fired up no problem. Is there something wrong here. is this normal?
I have a "skeleton" key (bare metal / no chip) in my wallet to get me through the door if I would lock the keys in there. It also allows me to start the engine but the engines dies in two seconds. Maybe you have a "loose chip" / dead or dying battery. Don't know what to suggest.
You never mentioned year of the FIT. How old are the batteries in you keys. Doesn't cost that much to put in a new battery. Cold Canadian weather will make a weak battery fail sooner than down south here in the States.
The car won't lock all "5" doors if one isn't completely closed (will not hear it anything click), so all door remain in the state (locked, unlocked) when you attempt to lock the whole car.
Starting / turning off the engine isn't affected by whether the doors are locked / unlocked / hanging wide open if you have the right key for the vehicle. As I noted, my flat metal key in my wallet will open the driver's side door lock, will turn in the ignition, and will start the engine but the engine dies in a second or two since there is not chip one this key.
Doors needing to be closed t start? Mine isn't programmed that way.

Just having a door open should NOT cause a no-crank or no-start issue.
I jump in and out of maybe 100+ different Hondas per week, I almost always have the drivers door open when I start them. Never a problem.
If it were an immobilizer related issue, it would still allow the starter to operate even if an unprogrammed key were used and the green light was flashing rapidly.
Manual trans--clutch pedal safety switch issue, or maybe the floor mat is wadded up under the pedal?
Starter solenoid failing--intermittent click but no crank?
