GE8 JDM brake light suddenly not working...

A few months ago I swapped the tail lights on my 2014 GE8 LX (Canada) to JDM tail lights. They looked great and worked.

Now suddenly my left rear brake light stopped working. I tried simply changing the light bulb figuring it must have died, but still no function. Puzzled, I swapped it back to the USDM tail light, and all the lights worked fine. Edit: It didn't work, still no function, issue probably doesn't lie in the tail lights.

So I'm thinking it probably isn't a bad fuse since the other light works fine, and its not a dead bulb, so could it be the socket for the bulb? Seems strange to me for something like that to suddenly fail. Any help/advice is much appreciated, cheers!

You were able to rule out the stock light connector coming from the car to the tail light. Did you try temporarily connecting the harness to the other JDM-tail light to check? If so, it would appear that the wiring, or socket, in the JDM taillight is broken.

Hey, thanks for the reply. I posted this and kept working on it and turns out I was wrong, my apologies, the USDM brake light wasn't functioning either, so it likely isn't the tail lights themselves, so maybe its a fuse or something wrong with the harness? All the hookups to the tail light seem to be undamaged and in good condition.

Again, you could test the left taillight that you suspect was bad with the other wiring harness on the right taillight. That would rule out that taillight for sure. Other than the fuses and wiring, I would not know what the culprit could be - perhaps a pinched/grounded wire when you were installing the taillights that finally manifested itself a few months later?

Yeah maybe. Strange thing is, when I lock my car both brake lights flash... So it seems the only time the left brake light doesn't function is when the brake is applied.

If your wiring is intact Id try checking each fuse 1 by 1...sometimes things are tied together funky, fuse wise.

Oh man... what a calamity. Thanks for trying folks and sorry for my stupidity, It turns out that the bulb in my jdm tail light had just burnt out, the bulb I replaced the first time around was the turn signal lol.
