Black + Red Plastidip Round 2 - Rear Valance/Diffuser & Front
Black + Red Plastidip Round 2 - Rear Valance/Diffuser & Front
I just got a 2010 White Fit Sport Navi and love the car, but found the color to be just too plain and simple.
I decided I wanted to highlight the white with red accents across the car. I am in process of changing the wheel centercap H to red, but here is what I did so far:
- Red iVTEC stickers to the back door panels (similar to the civic si, but with the SOHC instead)
- Changed the Front/Back logos to red via plastidip
I posted that here: https://www.fitfreak.net/forums/2nd-...ems-cheap.html
And today I;
- Changed the rear FIT logo to Red
- Added a red horizontal line to the top of the front grille. This is similar to how the current gen VW GTIs look.
- Blacked out the rear diffuser (aka rear valanece). Most cars have this black and in black it creates nice sporty lines to the bumper. I don't know why Honda thought it was better to leave it body color or if they got lazy or what, but I think it looks much better in black.
This was a bit harder because there is no hard edge for the plastidip to stick to. I ran a very careful and straight line using painter's tape and lot of patience. I did my usual 4 or so coats with 25-30 min between them (First coat is very light).
Then after it dried the last time, I used a sharp razor on the painter's tape edge to slightly score/cut the plastidip before I pulled. I then pulled the tape very carefully and any thing that stuck I stopped and ran the razor again.
The edge is not 100% perfect, but unless you get within a few feet and look carefully I think it looks good enough.
For the front, I removed both parts of the front grill as it is very easy to do so. I then masked it all up and had to do the same careful razor technique. The picture doesn't do it justice. It looks great in real life.
Ok here are the pics, what do you think?:
