2009 Fit Sport Misfiring

I have a 2009 Honda Fit Sport with around 161,000 miles. It has been misfiring for a bit now. OBDII reader said spark plug issue along with a few other codes, so we changed them first. The misfiring stopped for a few days, and slowly resumed. Two nights ago the car went into limp mode and the check engine light was flashing and the misfiring more violently. We plugged in the reader again, and without turning the key on it powered up and goes into reading mode with a “link error” message. Today we went to autozone to try their reader, and the same issue occurred- a connection error. We disconnected the battery overnight and the car drove well for a few miles, and then the check engine light came back on and the misfiring resumed again.

Looking for advice on how to proceed. Is it worth trying some cheaper spark plug coil packs to see if it resolves the issue? Would we be better off taking it into the dealership to have them run diagnostics? I am not looking to put a ton of money into the car because we will not be keeping it for more than a few more years at most.

OBDII Actron pocket scan plus is the OBDII reader

Thank you in advance.

Look for loose spark plugs first. Almost always the problem versus coil packs. But you could have other issues too - connectivity.

Next are the coils (always buy high quality coils - either OEM or a name brand firm like Denso, NTT, etc.). After that misfires can also be due to a clogged catalytic converter or poor cylinder compression (again due to leaking plug or leaking piston rings or another combustion chamber leak from the injectors)?
