first oil change. 10,202 miles

well i did the first oil change/ tire rotation on sunday(tire roation last week end)oil life at 15% 10,202 miles.i used http://www.castrolsyntec.com/default...strol%20SYNTEC castrol syntec 5w20 and a fram filter. the oil filter was tough to get off so i had to get a oil filter wrench, 4$ and a lifetime warranty, i had to get it.the drain bolt came out like a champ, the washer looked great but i junked it, i got the new ones at 4 for a buck. other than having to jack the car up a little, this was the easiest oil change EVER!, i have been changing my own oil for 11 years. this car is easy!

yeah its even easier when you have ramps!
best investment i ever made. even though my car cannot make it up the ramps, the other cars that i have its very easy.

i dont like fram filters, i hear they are the worst.
i have used mobil 1,and k&n filters. but recently i heard from several sources that stp filters are really good.

if i could find some wixx filters i would use that over all. purolators are good too.

some people stay with the brand they trust most. i try and do some research before i put it in. i might as well pay the extra 2-3 bucks for a good filter.

right now in my car is royal purple and stp, feels solid. i want to try amsoil, but that too is hard to get around san diego.

I wouldn't use a fram filter on my lawnmower. Cut one apart to see that there is hardly anything in there. They are complete crap. A oem honda filter is your best bet.

Unless you get the Filtech oem filters, they are just Fram filters painted blue. Cut one apart to see that there is hardly anything in there.

The Honda filters are made by Fram but they are more like the ToughGuard model than the cheap orange cans. They have plenty of media and silicone ADBVs (anti drain back valves).

You can buy the Honda replacement filters for $27 for 6 (about $4.50 each). Priced a Fram ToughGuard lately?

Some people use the slightly larger filters for the S2000
Honda S2000 Accessories - 2000-2009 Maintenance Parts

They are bigger hence more filter media, but they DO cost more.

My belief is, Honda says the regular small filters only need to be replaced every OTHER oil change. I change mine EVERY time the MM says to change the oil, so I'm ahead of the game...
