Has this ever happened? Gauges dead.
Uploaded with ImageShack.us
One night as I was leaving a friends house, I got in my car to find this.
All the gauges were dead, the speedometer was fluctuating from 30-120mph with the engine off, and so on. However, the car still ran.
I took it to Honda and they had no idea what was wrong with it, claimed it to be a power surge.

It's under warranty right? Tell us what Honda finds.
I can make some WAG (wild-a**-guesses):
1. you have a battery with a shorted or dead cell. Low voltage at initial power-up can cause that on some Chrysler vehicles, the instruments wont work or don't calibrate
2. There is a loose plug or ground connection at the instrument pod. Again, I have heard of some cars (not Hondas) that suffer poor plug connections or solder joints on the pod. Come to think of it, the clocks in late 90s CRVs had probs because of solder connections.

Honda claimed it to be a "power surge" but the tech was even confused when he saw it.
