Ok doing my first oil change tomorrow the Reminder went off at 15% with 8989 miles

Hi, Neros, I would follow the Honda directive to not change the oil on the first time until the car says to. After that I plan to change it every 3500-4000 miles, regardless of time. I put about 15K a year on my car. If you change it that often the quality of the oil is less important because it is changed before it is used up, by a long shot. If you use a synthetic and change it every 3-4K it is a big waste of money as the oil hasn't begun to wear out, or get contaminated with byproducts of combustion. Funny, my Odyssey has 130K on it and the oil change reminder comes on every 3750 miles. The Fit must have a more sophisticated computer figuring the oil change timing. The factory knows best, you can bet.

The Honda Maintenance Minder is more than an oil change light.

the Hondaline 15400-PLM-A01 that I purchase by the six-pac from H&A Honda has Filtec printed on the label. I believe that the A02 filters are made by Fram.

We're going to be on our second oil change soon. I like to change it right around 15% on the MM system as I did with my old TL (which was around 5-6k). The Fit went almost 8k on the factory fill and is now over 10k on Mobil 1 synthetic with Mobil filter. According to the MM we're stiil at 20%. I'm not use to these extended intervals, but oil has come a long way in the last few decades.
There is no oil consumption (right below the upper dot on the dipstick) and the oil is dark, but far from black. This time I purchased Pennzoil Ultra and a Bosch filter for ~$30.00 from Autozone.
Infiniti/Nissan are still on a mileage system for their cars so I'm currently sitting at Infiniti getting my first oil change and I am at ~3800 miles on my G. Since I'll be using ester I'll probably be pushing 5k+ intervals on that oil.
