strange rpm dip at WOT

strange rpm dip at WOT
So, the other day, I was on the highway, and in trying to pass in 3rd in the Manual mode, I went to wide open on the pedal, and noticed as the RPMs climbed, it dipped near 6200 RPMs, and then resumed climbing. Thinking it was just something load-related, I turned the A/C completely off (Switch off, fan off) and tried again, and it did the same thing. It only happens when the pedal is fully depressed and in the upper part of the RPM band, but it's a significant dip of about 200 RPMS, I would say. Is this just part of the Drive-by-wire reducing the throttle plate opening, or something electrical-related?

I do believe lyons addressed this. Its the torque converter locking in and pretty much y'alls 3rd gear being the ultimate power gear. The one thing the Auto has over the standard IMO

That would make sense...if it weren't also doing it in fourth. Also, I thought lock-up torque converters were supposed to be locked once the gear is in place and doesn't unlock until it shifts, or something to that effect. I'll do more research, I guess.

Okay, Lyon's post made it all make sense. Especially when he mentioned stalling too, because at the 1/8th strip, I was running consistent 11's, with maybe a tenth of a second off between runs.
He explained almost every reason I love the 5AT.

Yep, its the torque converter locking up. You can notice it in other gears too. For example when driving on a empty stretch of road and the car in Manual mode, switch up to 5th gear at a steady speed of around 35 to 40 MPH. Slowly yet steady roll onto the throttle eventually the torque converter will unlock and stay that way until you either reduce the throttle input enough or exceed a certain speed (50 MPH in my GD's case).
