DIY: 2010 Fit Sport SRS Syetem Code Reset - NOT WORKING - How To?

I have a 2010 Honda Fit Sport. It was in a front end collision and I was able to pull the codes via this method:

It pull a 4-2, or the front right collision sensor. I then attempted to reset the SRS codes via this method: https://www.fitfreak.net/forums/1st-...works-too.html

I am having no luck. The light never turns off (I expect it to come back on because it's not fixed yet). I have no response from the system and the light stays on as if I did nothing.

Questions is, ANYONE had luck resetting the SRS light on a 2010+ honda fit? If so, what yellow plug did you check? I using the most "obvious" one under the dash, but no response.

I also tried disconnecting the battery, no luck.

First time on the forums, feel free to move this post if in the wrong place.

if you have been in a collision and airbags went off or airbag parts/sensors have been "set-off", the code/light will not go away until said parts are replaced and in functioning condition.

chances are teh lgith never turns off becuase as soon as the key is cycled it checks the airbag system and finds the faulty part is still faulty.

Thanks, I am ordering a factory fresh replacement part and will see if installing it will turn the light off. Curious, what tool will pull the SRS codes and "reset" the system? I am willing to buy something to make sure i can diagnose it correctly. An ODB-II code reader seems to be only for check engine lights? Or will it diagnose the SRS codes as well?

I'm looking at buying this:
Amazon Amazon

Thanks in advance.

Did the seatbelt tensioners deploy? Problem is any time ANYTHING deploys in your honda, it also requires a srs control unit. I work at a honda dealer, and we see accident related body shop cars alot and it is a common need.

Thanks bonylad - the problem is I don't know what is wrong and I don't want to take it to the dealer for a $100 diagnostic. (I live in socal, haven't checked on price but that is my guess).

I pull the codes and get the general error for the system (code 5-something) as well as the 4-2 for the front right sensor. I have since replaced the sensor, but the SRS light still comes on. I don't have the ability to "reset" it at this time. If it was just the sensor with a problem, would the light turn off?

Do you think I should suck it up and take it in?

If you get me a specific code, I can email you the trouble shooting flow chart. It seems though......

1. you have the incorrect part
2. you have it wired backward (if the harness was damaged its common to mis-pin them when reinstalling)
3. you have another problem such as an srs control unit, which in my experience usually has to be replaced ANY time youve been involved in a collision.

btw. you need to reinitialize the srs system and you need a hds/mvci to do that with. generic scan tools only deal with obd codes, not sure if higher end snap on tools can do this.

i hate to say it, but you having been in a collision probably have little choice but to take to the dealer to get this resolved.
