I have a fuel smell than happens whenever I drive the car only and it started after I had my valves adjusted and a screw extracted from my valve cover. Took it back to the shop and they said they didnt notice any leaks but that it could be fuel injector o rings as it looked clean around 1 injector. They also told me to drive around locally on recirculate and use fresh air when on the highway to avoid the fumes.

its been over 15k since the service and while the smell hasnt gotten better, it hasnt gotten worse either, leading me to believe it could be something else.

What troubleshooting steps can I take and where do you recommend I start looking? I dont want to keep paying $125 diagnostic fee for poor advice.

Thanks!

Do you have a check engine light? Its hard to believe you dont if your having that strong of a smell. The system is designed to hold a vac., and if it doesnt you will have a evap code set. Ill look into this for you. Im away from work and will see if there are any bulletins, but from the sound of it...you have a small evap leak. Hava you checked it running with you head under hood to see if the smell is present? Where is the smell strongest?

DRIVING WITH THE RECIRC ON IS LIKE FIXING A RATTLE WITH THE VOLUME TUNED UP! Thats not the proper way to fix anything. Masking the issue.....aint helping.

What do you really need to do to change the AT fluid in a 2010 sport?

Honda does not recommend flushes per say. They have service news articles about fluid flushes......they havent been proven to be a benefit. Just added expense and time. Alot of dealers do it though as its a cheap and easy way to add dollars to a ro. Ask an advisor to search iN for flush for say a 06 accord......it will bring up that news article.

honda does have a 3 time drain fill drive procedure that is done around 90k. thats what they consider a flush. most dealers just drain and fill every 30k.

and thats that......drain and fill every 30k. you can use the trans dipstick tube to fill, but you have to wait a lil before checking the level. works fine.

No engine light, no really noticeable performance issues. If the engine is running you can stand over the open hood and smell a bit not much though. Its at its strongest when you park the car after a long drive. If you turn the vent back to fresh air, it'll be powerful. also if you step out of the car with the engine still running after said long drive, the smell is stronger on the sides of the car...

Only suggestion I can really think of is you may have to have the system smoke tested. Its POSSIBLE you have a cracked evap cannister or a line cracked/dryrotted in the system. As you know it doesnt take much fuel to cause an odor.

Hi Bonylad,

My passenger seat wont move along the track anymore. Luckily it's all the way back so anyone can still sit there, but it does make the back seat a bit crouded for taller guests. What are some possible problems that would cause that? Is there something stuck in the track? It's very frustrating.

Thanks for helping!

When you pull the adjustment slide up, it disengages the locks on the sliders. SO you have one of two things. Either the cables are broken/not connected OR one of the sliders wont disengage because of the way the linkage works (both locks on both sliders).

Worth taking the seat out IMO, flipping it over and inspecting the operation. Probably something came loose if I had to guess.

My 2007 Fit was purchased in July 2006 and has never been back to a dealership for anything.. I do all of the maintenance and have also done numerous performance modifications that include a supercharger with 10 PSI boost... How many recall items is there that I need to have done?

We usually see that around the 110K mark, sometimes a lil sooner. Thats what I recommend. Course if you wanna be HONDA APPROVED.....wait till you get the code on the MM, but 110k is what I would say. Drop some IK22 Denso's in.

No problems, sounds like a nice ride. Got a link to it?

Two options......

1. PM me your VIN and I will run it, and advise you on whats current and open
2. Call your local dealer or preferred dealer with your VIN and they can run it.

Alot of issues are because the nut between the steering wheel and pedals is loose.

Buzzing noise , not starting.

I had this happened twice and engine did not start. OK let me explained how it happen :
Key in, turn to position III to start, all I got just a buzzing noise, seem like it come from ignition switch not from engine. I return to position II then III to start, again I hear second buzzing noise and engine not starting. I take out the key, insert it back to ignition switch, turn to position III and engine now started normal.
Can you explain ?
The car is Fit base Auto 2012, with 9500 miles.

Sounds like the starter relay. There is a service news article about it. Basically it states people who dont turn the key quick enough hear the relay under the dash buzz momentarily. You can replace the relay but it will keep doing it. Its considerd a normal noise charactertistic if youy turn the key too slow. It If the noise is coming from the dash area.....thats your issue. To paraphrase the news pub....turn the key quicker. IF the noise is coming from someplace else, go to a dealer.

Fast the belt before starting car. Rather simple.

Not that I am aware of. Its a safety feature to remind you to buckle up. Dont think you can disable it easily.

Now, some people with disabilities or size issues have developed a work around. Basically they go to a salvage yard, pull the buckle from a seatbelt, and just fasten it in. No damage to your existing hardware, but the vehicle thinks your fastened and hence no chime.

I DONT RECOMMEND THIS; however, as its defeating a safety function
of the vehicle.

Maybe you can find out, but I've been dying to know which sharkfin antenna (part #) is a direct swap (plug and play) for our GE8 antenna connections?

I think it's one of the Civics (the one w/o Sat radio).

I would greatly appreciate if you can find that out.
