Creaking coming from the front end...

2013 Sport with 59K miles.

Past couple of days I noticed that the front suspension is making creaking/ rubbery sound when going slowly over speed bumps. More so from the driver side. That is around 55F. Now, when it temp drops even lower, I can hear the creaking when driving over humps and bumps on the round. That happens during cool mornings, but when temp rises to 60F and above there is zero noise.

Dealership noticed the sound as well. They removed, cleaned and lubricated all the bushings? Thought it was gone but the sound came back last morning.

I'm living in north Texas so I'll wait a bit until temps go below 40F and then take the car again to stealership for further repairs ( car is under extended warranty)

In the mean time does anyone have any clue what could it be? BTW, when you push on the front end when car is stationary you cannot replicate the sound.

Also, check your swaybar bushings. (The best way to diagnose this is to disconnect both ends and see if the noise disappears.)

These bushes are NOT supposed to be lubricated. (I dunno WHAT that dealer was thinking) They are designed to hold tight to the bar. If they dry out and slip, you get the creaking.

Bought my 2013 in January of 2014, started to hear creaking noise from the front suspension while going over speed bumps. I'm thinking it's from the bushings... if we can't lubricate them then how do we fix the noise?

You replace them (they get dried or stretched out, so that they slip rather than grip). OEM are $4.35 USD from Bernardi, 51306-TK6-A11. I'm sure you can get them from an autoparts store also.

But are they supposed to start making noise after less than a year of driving? This started during the end of 2014 with about 10k miles.

No, they are NEVER supposed to creak. So you (or a tech) should take a look.

I suppose its possible to have a 'dry' lower ball joint or tie rod end, as well. I have taken to lubricating these joints with a grease gun. (They have no zerk fittings, so I use a grease gun needle to inject some lubrication)

Car is still under extended warranty but delearship was no help at all so I ordered brand new oem swaybar bushings and front endlinks. Very reputable shop installed them for $180 and creaking is still there, seems like less thou...only in temps below 50F. Anythibg above 50F and its quite as a church mouse.

Probably going to live with it. I would have bet large sum of money that the swaybar bushings were the reason for the creaking.

Sorry for gramma. Writing from a phone.

Well I guess I won't waste my time going to the dealer... I'll try to spray some lubricant around the bushings when I get it on a lift. So annoying to hear all the creaking noises going over speed bumps. Reminds me of when I had poly bushings on my camber adjustment bolts on my lowered accord.

What is your mileage? and does it only happen in cold weather?

I drove my fit this morning. About 45F and raining. First speed bump leaving my apartment sounded like a old rusted horse carriage . Went to get an oil change, came back and drove over the same speed bump and nothing, no creaking at all. Water most likely got on the bushings and quiet them down.

I still suspect the front sway bar bushings. The new bushings could also be making noise I supposes ... This is first winter where I drive over speed bumps every morning .( moved to an apartment) So I don't know if this noise just developed or it was there from the very beginning.

I'm around 26.5k miles and it only happens when it gets cold outside and only over speed bumps. Bought in Jan 2014, driven by wife until April 2014, I started to notice it Nov/Dec 2014.

So I recently saw this video of an owner of a 2013 honda sport that had the same noise I have. The dealer had replaced his two front struts and it fixed the problem... I'm thinking that it could be the front struts instead of the bushings.

Yup, the noise I experienced on cold morning sounds EXACTLY the same in my Fit. Its been very warm in the past few weeks here in Texas so I haven't heard anything in some time. Suspension makes ZERO noise as of now...

This can't be actual shock absorber. Must be some rubber part ( in the top front strut assembly) that hardens due to temperature change....

I will wait until next winter and tackle it again. I have about 35K miles until my extended warranty expires so I'm good for some time... Sure as hell I'm not spending any of my money to fix this issue.

There is often a neoprene snubber around the strut rod ,, I've seen them get stuck at the top and they creak when the springs cycle. Not fatal just annoying as heck.

I get the same noise in my 2012 Fit Sport on colder days, too, when I go over speed bumps.

I had that symptom with an older Honda Accord I bought.
It turned out it was the CV boots.
Rubber covers that protect the CV axle joint. Mine had gotten so old they were cracked and letting dirt into the CV axle joint, which would then creak over every bump.
I caught it early enough that they were able to clean and lubricate the axle joint, and replace the boot covers and all was OK.
If it's permanent damage to the joint and axle the cost of repair is much greater.

Good thing you were able to prevent damage! Prevention is better than cure!
