Silver vs Black Metra Kit for 2012 Fit Sport?

Hi, I have been reading through these forums about how the color of the black Metra dash kit doesn't match the black dash exactly in the 2012 Fit - wondering if anyone has tried the Scosche black kit with success of a closer color match?

Also wondering if anyone with has tried the silver Metra kit? I don't know if that would look hokey or not, but the steering wheel has silver "spokes" so it's not as if it would be the only silver thing on the dash...looking to upgrade my HU to a Double DIN and Crutchfield or Sonic Electronix offer free Metra / Scosche dash kits with HU purchase.

Thanks in advance!!

I'm hoping someone can answer this too as I'm planning to do the same thing with my 2012. I really don't want to replace the nice looking charcoal trim with the older style silver trim. It seems like the aftermarket companies would have come out with a color matched trim piece for these by now.

There have been a few people who have bought the OEM navi trim, which does match in color, but has to have a trim piece to fill up the gap between the head unit and dash trim. The trim piece seems to be the tricky part to get right as some are close, but there doesn't seem to be anything that's an easy, exact fit.

I'm still wondering too. Hopefully someone has found a solution.

You might be better off just buying the OEM part.

New OE dark gray pieces (no trim piece, metra trim doesn't fit)

So yeah, don't attach any kind of adhesive to Metra dash piece. Suction cups might do the same thing, but i'm not sure.

Here's an updated pic with my trim piece around the navigation unit. I had to dig around my room to find the original trim that came with the unit. Then found that the top and bottom were too wide so I had to cut, trim and file it down a bit. The sides are a little too narrow, but fit better than the Metra trim piece. It doesn't look too bad in the camera pic. And if you don't stare at it, it looks fine. But doesn't stand up to any kind of inspection, since I had to hack it in. It would probably look better if I could set the whole unit with trim a little deeper into the dash piece, but there's no screw holes that would line up at that point.

Up close with unit booting up.

Here is a pic of the Black Metra kit (#99-7877B) that came with my Crutchfield order. I went with the OEM nav part instead because I wanted the color to match.

I can see that it doesn't quite match, but I think I could live with the black much more than the silver. I'm glad the Metra kit now comes in a closer match.
