I have not been to and on Streets in a long time, since my motorcycle days. The last time I was there it was barely a garage and a big empty lot for the pits. Are the accouterments better now?

Not much has changed; they did recently repave the track though!
I couldn't get the camera to focus on the "R." Photos were shot with a Nikon D3 and AF-S NIKKOR 24-70mm f/2.8 lens.
Have you calibrated the lens? I shoot with a Pentax DSLR but have been working too much latly to do any. I use an old film Pentax for black/white which I highly recommend trying as it's lots of fun!!!
I am curious on your thoughts on those tires. They seem a little too auto-x oriented for everyday driving to me but maybe not. Are you daily driving on them?

I'm not sure if it's calibrated to be honest; not my camera gear. I'll let you know how I like the tires once they're on the car.
The tires will be used for daily driving as well as the race track.
I think your depth of field could've benefitted from being a bit wider, right now it is a bit too thin for my tastes.
Also manual focus is your friend if your cam won't focus. When I take pictures of my cat I have to use MF because a DARK black cat is really hard for camera's to focus on (I'm a Canon guy, 5D atm)

Agreed! Both pictures were shot at f/2.8 and I think that's why I wasn't getting the result that I wanted with the RE-71R photo.
I tried manual focus as well, but I think my DoF was the problem here. The Canon 5D is a great camera; I love that thing! My dad actually used to have one, so I used it for a while.
