Is the tow hitch to pull a trailer, or for the Fit to be pulled?

I am looking for a trailer hitch so I can tow my dirtbike. If it is a trailer hitch, what is it rated for?

 

This is the hitch installed on my Fit. It's rated for 2000lbs, more than you probably want to pull. Pulls a dirt bike GREAT!

 

Perfect! Did you just unbolt it when you weren't using it? Where did you find a plug kit for the tail lights?

 

I removed the receiver when I wasn't using it, hitch stayed on the car until I sold it. Any auto parts store sells the universal wiring kit, just involves putting in a few T-Taps into your tail light connections.

 

Gotcha. Just thinking this over right now. I sold my truck and the Fit is my lone vehicle. So far, getting to the track has not been an issue as my riding buddy lives next door, but if I want to go on a whim and he's not around, then I will need this. Also, I don't have a trailer yet, but they are all over CL.

 

That trailer pictured I purchased brand new for $139 from Harbor Freight with a 20% off coupon. I built the rail out of a 2x6 and a couple of 1x2's, and used a Harbor Freight wheel chock. I have about 175 invested in it.

I've purchased a set from them before and it was around 15 bucks.

You can make something work fairly easily, nothing complicated is in the hardware kit. You can use standard grade 8 washers and bolts, just takes a bit of fiddling.

 

True. Looks like I can pick up most of that stuff from Home Depot or Lowes easily.

Would you take $65 for the hitch?

 

If I still have it in a few weeks, maybe. It's prolly gonna cost me around 30 bucks to ship.
