Tear & wear : Piston seals for GE.
hello all,
Recently, after about 50000+ km on my GE,
My rear capliper's piston seal got broken & caused the piston to sort of jam as heat builds up. This then causes soft brake pedal ( like no brakes ).
Oh, i've converted from drum to discs for the rear with a 2 pot caliper.
so i went to the workshop & got it diagnosed & replaced the round rubber like seal. I opt to change both rear.Surprisingly, the front too was wearing out. front left was torn & front right had light tear. Hence, i had a full 4x brakes serviced. The front is still stock single pot only with larger disc brake over original.
So after describing the above, can anyone please advise the average lifespan of these seals ? or on average, how long mileage before it is time to change them ?? when we change the brakepad, we can actually see the seal around the piston. it is a pity i do not have pictures of the seal
