That sounds a little pinched to me, but my question is similar: what about running 195/50-16 on the stock wheels? Is this a good fitment for the stock wheel width? This is only one size wider, a touch smaller diameter and plenty of good rubber available in this size.

==============

OK... so did some quick research. Michelin and Dunlop list full fitment info on their sites and according to them, 16X6 is the reference wheel for the Pilot Exalto PE2 or Direzza/Star Spec in 195/50-16, and 5.5"-7.5" width is the range for the 205 (reference wheel is 16X6.5), although 205 still sounds a bit roly-poly on a 6" rim to me.

I think that settles it for me. I'll go with the 195 PE2 on stock rims and see how that works out. FWIW, these tires in 195/55-15 were truly excellent on my 99 Integra GS-R. No way they will be the limiting factor on this car without some serious suspension work.

Bingo ..... Exactly..... with a stock ride height car the front wheels will "Poke"... but as the ride height comes down and "camber chages the front will gain up to .5~.7 of and inch.... the " JDM " GE8 is the same way at stock height as the usdm one.... there is a new Fit tuning guide book that has tons of pictures with about 25~35 different wheel selections with various offsets and widths at stock ride height and lowered.. and you "can" see the difference just by the car being lowered..... You all should not be so Freaked out about the front wheel fitment.... just try to keep the tire size in the 195~205 range with an offset of 42mm or greater and you should have no problems... and if your brave and want to try a 7.5 wheel width I would try at least a 48mm offset or more

My 2 cents....

I will be running some rather large wheels with a lowered stance Fit when I get back to the states in November... so I will have plenty of pictures to show you all ... this is the size that I`ll be running .....
18x7.5 52mm Offset with a 215/35/18..

Tirerack

I read this whole tread with interest. Thanks for the info.

Tirerack started offering, within the last week, wheels and tires for the '09 Fit. Supposedly, they tested the wheel/tire combinations and do guarrantee the fit, provided you order it searching by car/year (not just wheel size).

This morning I ordered a set of 17/7.5 Enkei wheels with 45 mm offset, tire-pressure monitors, and 205/45 ZR 17 Yokohama tires. They should arrive on Sep 29-30 and I will advise on how they work out.

Hey - which Enkei model and Yokohama tire did you get?

I was looking at the SC03, which has the 45 mm offset, and the Yokohama sDrive tires.

AWDturbo:

Wheels: 17x7.5 Enkei Racing NT03-M HB
Tires: Yokohama Parada 205/45ZR17

I used these tires on my 1995 Civic, road as well as track and liked them. Good grip in corners and less than $100 a piece.

Unless your 17x7.5 wheels are at least 50 mm offset they will likely rub in front of 09's even with 205/40x17 tires.
If its an 08 they might work undropped but probably rub at rear.

the 17x7.5 45mm ET with the 205 will sit dead flush with the front fender... and depending on tire maker.... it might have a little strech to the tire on that width of a rim. Here is a picture of a 195/40/17 on a 7.5 wheel with a 45mm ET.

Yes, as long as they are 4x100Bc and fit over calipers and linkages on an unlowered chassis, they will fit on both 08 and 09 Fits.
Big improvement on 09's thanks to 'gear' improvement.

I still plan to lower the fit so would that make a difference since there would be camber play involved then
