Which tire size is better for me? 205/45/16 or 205/40/16 help me!

Hey guys. I plan on getting new wheels for my fit. 16x7 Drag DR31 40 offset (link below) I am lowering the car on Tanabe DF210 springs (1.3 drop and 1.8 rear)

I am wondering which tire size will be better for me. 205/45/16 or 205/40/16? I dont want the car to rub, or if it does very slightly. Should i be fine with the 205/45 or should I go 205/40

Heres the link to the wheels. Thanks guys!

I would go with the 205/45-16. It's closer to stock height overall, you will keep a slightly better ride due to a taller sidewall and your options are greater coupled with typically lower prices. As far as rubbing goes you shouldn't have any issues. I've run more agressive setups without any rubbing problems unless you run spacers in rear and carry a bunch of people in the back.

^^ That would be true (tire size wise) if it were a GD chassis but in the case of the current GE the recommend tire size is 205/50R16.

As far as rubbing, GE's are much more sensitive to lower offsets with wider tires especially when lowered from what I've gathered from the various threads on here. There is a good chance you're tire would rub when lowered with the correct 20/50R16s mounted on wheels of your specified dimensions.

You are correct that a 205/45-16 is closer to the gd3 chassis is tire diameter and that a 205/50-16 is closer in diameter to the ge8 is tire. But since the op didn't ask what tire is the closest in diameter, I answered his original question as to which tire size was closer.

Honestly, I would run the 205/45-16 over the 205/50-16 for a few reasons. The overall height is only 0.75" approx, and the difference in speedometer reading is only 3.2% in regards to vehicle traveling slower than displayed, I.e. if speedo shows 65 you would be doing 63.8. Also you would have better clearance for aftermarket wheels in regards to width and offsets.

Agreed, I also think it just looks better on the fit.
