Bad idea to switch to a 17" wheel?

I'm currently on lowered on 205/50/16 and sometimes feel that the ride can be a bit harsh. I'm currently looking at a set of 17s and I'm not sure if it would be a bad idea to switch or if the ride quality will be relatively the same.

btw the wheels I'm looking at;

right now I'm on 17's, and driving on a smooth road is alright. Potholes are very painful. Also 3 of 4 tires have bubbles in the sidewalls from the potholes.

Lower profile tires that you'll put on the 17's will make the ride worse because the sidewall will soak up less of the impact and transfer more of it to the suspension and body. Potholes will be more likely to bend the wheels with lower profile sidewalls (again, they provide less cushioning).

If the roads around you are that bad, i'd stick with 16's.

I'm on t1r s-coil springs. I might eventually transition to coil-overs but it isn't really a priority at the moment.
