TPMS light and swapped tires.

Ok, real simple, I have an '11 MT, the wife has an '11 AT. We use my car for trips, so more miles. I got new Michelins a year ago. Last week, I got her car new Michelins. Then, with 14k miles on my Michelins, I swapped them to her car and I took the new ones.

Within 20 miles or so, the TPMS light came on in both cars, so the system is not recognizing the sensors. (there have been no prior issues with the sensors).

I have read this:
https://www.fitfreak.net/forums/2nd-...erational.html

But is that referring to making the computer recognize the newly acquired sensors? I can swap them back if I have to, but I rather keep them like this. I'm not going to stare at the TPMS light though...

Thanks!

ok so u have the same type of car. now to be clear. u swapped rims and tires or u took of the tires of each set of tims and swapped the tires out?

if u swapped out the tires and rims, the tpms sensor is only programmed to the original car. you will have to reprogram the tpms to the other car. u will have to go to a tire shop or Honda to get them reassigned.

Ok well the reprogramming cost is prohibitive... I swapped the wheels back to their original car and after a 1/4 mile of driving, the light went off.

i have my winters on now without tpms. i just have an annoying light on, but doesnt really make a difference. except u wont be able to disable VSA via the button. ull have to unplug the button to disable it.

Just an FYI, if you have Americas Tire or Discount Tire where you live, they will reprogram the TPMS sensors for free.
