3rd Gen GK Specific Fit Engine Modifications, Motor Swaps, ECU Tuning Sub-ForumThreads discussing engine mods/swaps/tuning for the third generation GK Honda Fit.
I bought the Apexi Smart Accell Controller and ge8 harness last year hoping it would work on the gk5. Installed it but it didn't work, idle was all off and couldn't get it programmed. Then in December just so happened to see on Facebook that a new harness for the gk5 was just released. Emailed Apexi and worked with Jun to swap the ge8 for the gk5 harness. Apparently there is only a small pin difference between models keeping it from compatibility. Controller works great. I only use the most aggressive (red) setting, our Fits don't have enough juice to get me in trouble.
Simple and easy install. Follow the instructions and it's a simple harness swap between the stock harness and gas pedal.
I installed the controller switch. Pressing the switch toggles between seven throttle modes. You can stick the switch anywhere the harness length will allow, I was going for a factory look. It required some modification since I didn't want the wire to show.
This controller doesn't increase horsepower, it just opens the throttle quicker making for faster initial acceleration.
I bought the controller unit and harness direct from Apexi. You can get it cheaper but heard there were counterfeits and didn't want to take a risk with electronics. Also I have a manual, not sure what kind of experience you'll have with cvt.
Side note, can't prove it but it seems gas milage average has slightly gone up, can only guess why, I only use the most aggressive mode.
Apexi told me there was a difference in pin configuration between the ge and gk harness. They allowed me to swap for the gk5 harness. I don't know if you can repin the ge8 harness to get it to work on the gk5. Contact Apexi for a swap, they were very helpful.
Glad you enjoyed Oahu. I don't see any modded fits on my commute, I'm probably driving in the boring areas.
