Airbox muffler? What say you?
Apparently the airbox has a muffler? The rubber hose connected to a sealed box down below and to the left.
Has anyone disconnected the hose? If so, did you then plug up the hole the hose was once connected to? So I did some maintenance on my new to me 28k mile Fit today and left the hose off and went for a short ride. The intake was definitely louder. Hence the muffler assumption. The inlet the hose was disconnected from showed a very little bit of dust. Leaving it open would allow dust in, pre-filter and seemingly take in hot air as the inlet location is directly behind the radiator in a hot engine bay. So what say you? On or off? Open or plugged?

Are you talking about the intake resonator? I just taped mine off from the inside, has held up well for a couple years so far....some folks have found something suitably sized to plug it with, tape was just plain easier, since no one would ever see it unless looking for it anyway. Yeah, there's a slight sound difference, nothing to write home about, really. I did it when I installed the Tanabe Medallion Touring (or whatever it's called) axleback.... wife didn't understand why I "needed" that, but....it sounds sweet.

. The Tanabe Medallion is sweet sounding, you can definitely tell it’s not stock, but sounds really good, not fart cannish or anything. I assume they’re still available, can only speak from my experience with our ‘15 LX 6 spd, fits perfectly. A lil pricy, was worth it to me. That, a rear sway bar (Progress? I forget) , a weighted shift knob, a Sumho “ram air” (for lack of a better word) piece that perfectly replaces the factory piece at the edge of the hood, K&N filters, full moon wheel covers, am good to go...just want to go to 205s from the 185s, but these darned tires the previous owner put on before they traded it in won’t wear out - LOL...some day.
I'm curious about the "Sumho" piece you mentioned but couldn't locate anything with Google.

Yeah thanks. I work on diesels for a living but can't help researching and tinkering with a new car. After reading a lot of stuff in a lot of places, word is the resonator creates resonance that the engine likes, according to the brilliant Honda engineers. Probably just leave it all stock for the time being as it's got a warranty attached; but I really wanna change the sound with an axle back exhaust. So tempting because I can just bolt on the stock piece if it needs warranty work.
and is there anyway to get a sumole? I read a thread that said you have to go to Singapore
do a search on Sumole air cooler on carousell singapore. The seller should be willing to ship worldwide
