NST crank pulley

Anybody know about this company ? Never heard of them myself.

Anybody else that does lightweight crank pulleys for the Fit 2015 ?

I had a Perrin in my previous car but they don't make anything for Honda's. Unorthodox Racing doesn't have one either.

Never heard of them either, But 7-10hp for $200? i mean that seems worth besides that warranty issue.

Warranty issue ?

The 7-10 HP claim is hogwash. At most a crank pulley on a small motor such as this can give 2-4 HP across the rev range. I've seen an older Fit model gain about that (dyno tested). The crank pulley was actually giving more power than the aftermarket exhaust system.

I work at a place where there is a lot of small motored machines and the mechanic there did it for me on my previous car for 50$. It took him about 30 minutes. It was a piece of cake for him with all the tools at the shop. I don't think I'd want to do it myself. At least not with the common tools I have.

So....are you willing to do this for the Fit community? I sent my pulley to NST so they can make this pulley but they have been slow to make this happen. I've already posted a thread about it.

Are you willing to do this yourself to make this happen or if someone sent you a stock pulley? I mean, it only takes 30 minutes and $50 bucks. If you are not willing...that's cool. What is this mechanic's name and what shop does he work for? I'm willing to call it myself. It's not a problem.

But on the link I sent out it seems as if the pulley is available now, or is it ? You sent a stock pulley to them and they have not sent you one of theirs in return ? The reason why I posted this is because I'm really interested in putting one in my GK5 but I know from experience that not all companies are created equal when it comes to car mods. I'm sure most of you already know this. The last thing I want is for a mod to go sour on me or that fit and/or finish is not exactly as stock. I want top quality and I'm ready to pay for it if it lasts, is backed up by a serious warranty and makes proven power as opposed to potential power gains.

The fact that you mention they are slow to make it happen sends me a warning sign right there.

If Unorthodox Racing or Perrin Performance made one, I'd buy it without hesitation but I've never heard of non stop tuning hence my original question.

I can assure you that anything I will put on the car I will report to say how it works out for me. I think that's why we are all here.

So far I find the modification choices rather limited that's why I'm waiting for other companies to get stuff out. Maybe it will always be very limited, I don't know. It seems the Civics and other Honda's are getting all the attention. It's a pity because this motor while rather small has a lot of potential.

It is not available now. I sent them a question about the pulley they advertised from one of my other accounts and they stated *And I quote*, "Our 2015 Honda Fit pulley is a special order item and requires apx 30-40
days to process. Please order with us on our website if interested and
we'll get a package out to you ASAP..

They have not! Still waiting!

I can't say that I'm frustrated. These are chances that you take to try and make things happen. I have other threads on vendors that I am in a similar situation with. I'm just not one to wait on multiple excuses. I understand fully but I don't make excuse on my money and paying up for the service. I just make it happen and I expect the same in return.

So.....I ask about the mechanic you mentioned. Can he make it happen? 30 minutes? 1 week? Who cares!?! If he's that good, I'll call him up and we maybe can set something up and make it happen. So I ask! Even if not for the community, for yourself (or myself). I just want to see this done. End products not just talking about it. Let's make it happen!

Sorry if I seem straight forward but I'm big on results. I've been talking about ish years ago. Let's get a lighter pulley and do some testing for results. I'll let the yay and naysayers argue on why the results are they way they are. I already know better though.

I'm no longer in touch with that mechanic. He left a few years ago. That's besides the point though. Any half decent mechanic can do it in a place with modern tools. Heck, he wasn't even a car mechanic. If I got a good crank pulley from a manufacturer I can trust in a worse case scenario I'd pay the tech at my dealership to do it. Putting it in the car is not the issue for me.

We can both agree that we want results from whatever we put in. Depending on how long you've been waiting for NST to make the pulley happen, it might not make sense for me to deal with them at all.

What a lightweight crank pulley can do in a previous gen Fit

I finally found the link I had seen a few weeks ago. It just goes to show that just a few well chosen mods put together can make an interesting combination when it comes to power and torque gains even in a small normally aspirated motor. These are dyno proven gains, not probabilities and wild claims.

Interestingly the lightweight pulley makes more power than the cat back exhaust. Enjoy the article.

I sent the stock pulley out to them in late November last year (2014). All the good reviews about their product and the dyno plots is one reason why I went with them. Another reason is I simply was happy that they took on the project. They currently have a stock 2015 pulley I sent to them as well as a 2010 Toyota RAV4 V6 (2GR-FE engine) pulley that I'm trying to get to be lightweight. That pulley was sent out in February.

So we are coming up on 7 months. Who am I to complain? There simply are no other pulleys on the market. So I wait!
Here's the thread --> NST Pulley!

BTW: You had a Perrin pulley? Were you into Subarus? I love Subarus! Also, I thought of Unorthodox but they made a custom undersized lightweight pulley for a 1989 Subaru XT6 I had. It was great but the UR owner said he'd never make a custom pulley again. I bugged the hell out of him after it started to be too many months.

Not a Subaru, a Toyota ! Yes Perrin used to make pulleys for all kinds of cars. They've become a very specialized company mainly serving the Subaru community and the Scion FR-S. Maybe I could write to Unorthodox to see If they will make one for the GK5. They made one for a previous generation Fit so why not ? See the previous link I posted.
