Interesting... I just called, they looked up the fix, and never told me about a part having to be ordered. They gave me an appointment this week. Me thinks I better call again to see if they have to order anything.

I thought the letter made mention of a part being replaced. I might be wrong about that though.

I'm looking at the letter. It says nothing about checking parts availability, just to schedule an appointment. Doesn't hurt to check, of course.

I'll pass on the call and just drive by, and if they goofed and have to order, I will just grab some of their donuts and coffee and return

Just got the notice from Honda about the bumper upgrade. How long did the repair take? They say to leave the car all day.

Yup i had to wait for this recall to be fixed before i took delivery of my fit. They told me it was something under the bumper and that the part would be there in a few days. They didnt go into specifics but i'm happy they didnt let me take the car. Kudos to them for making it right before i got it home.

Saves them a few bucks, I'm sure. I'm actually disgusted that Honda is only doing this at the owners' discretion. As a safety improvement, it should be mandatory. This is a move I expect from Toyota or Ford, not Honda.

My letter says "The dealer will "Replace" the front bumper beam with and Improved one."

I just assumed everyone received the same letter, it is easy to read over though.

It's not a recall, though. IMHO, it should be.

I'm scheduled for 10/9. Service manager said parts coming tomorrow, so you should be okay SR45. He said about 1/2 day.

I suppose since they are contacting everyone and give them the option to update no charge it is up to the individual to have it done. Although perhaps if it were a recall and the consumer didn't do it and was involved in an accident they would have less leverage. Best plan is to just get it done and be safer for no money and just a little time involved.

I just scheduled and was told it was a software upgrade. Somehow I feel they may be mistaken from what you all have mentioned.

It was a mistake. Call them up to verify they have it right and the part available. It's a manufacture part that has to be replaced.

I got my notice on Monday and low key freaked out. I have changed the front beam on older cars with JDM conversions, but have never had a company tell me mine needed to be replaced and with a kid on the way, always the worst comes to mind.

Obviously the service department had no idea of what I was talking about when I called, but I have an appointment scheduled October 27. We'll see how this goes (meaning, it should only take an hour... but will most likely take a week, LOL)

But, it could be worst; it could be a faulty ignition that causes me to kill myself or others... ...

Got mine done today, and found out that even though most of the parts were at the dealership, at least one of the parts were missing, and they had to pick it up elsewhere, which caused a 2 1/2 hour deal. Normally its about an hour or so. Also learned that the parts for my bumper where actually for your car...Sorry However, you are scheduled for later, and should be fine.

PS: As I watched what the tech was doing he mentioned that it was the first one being done, and he said he was very careful in doing it. Should take less time on the others.

SR45 What is the name of your dealer? My dealer was not sure of the part number of the foam piece and other parts that may be needed. Thanks.
