Yup, that was the part that was missing and they had to find one. Probably got it from another dealer near-by, not sure. Tech that worked on it took the time to tell me about the install and how he was a geek and getting it right the first time.

Front bumper upgrade done today! Called dealer two days ago after receiving letter and he ordered part and scheduled it for today. Took about 1:20 minutes.

We have not received a letter, so I am hoping that means we are in the clear. Our build date was June 2014, and our VIN is 714......I may have just jinxed myself by saying this.

Today I had my bumper upgrade done at my dealer. It all took a little over an hour. My invoice stated: "removed and replaced front bumper beam and added foam". The car looks the same as when I took it in so I would say it went very smooth.

Got my letter a few days ago. I called my dealer the next morning and they got me scheduled for the following day. They had the part in stock so it was done by end of the day. Quick and painless.

Got my bumper recall done today. Last week the dealer called and said all parts were in, and would be done in 1/2 day. Today, dropped it off and got a call saying they needed to order more parts, since each Fit is different. I said BS, and they said they would have to order the other parts, and it would take days. I called Honda, and expressed my anger, they called the dealer, and suddenly my parts re-appeared at the dealer. Funny how those things can happen. Anyway, got it back a couple hours later done.

Referring to the front bumper, the change in the assembly line probably happened for your model as it was being built. It's my understanding that Fits manufactured before June needed to have a bumper upgrade. It's not a defect, merely Honda wanting a better insurance safety commission rating, which they got with the upgrade.

Getting the upgrade done right now. I asked to see it when they got it apart. Here is a picture of the new bumper

I looked at both but not super close and didn't really see a lot of difference but think it is mainly in the welding of the brackets where it mounts.

Here is the current bumper

Mine was done today. It took 3 hours. At one point I was out walking and saw a red Fit go by. I was excited to see another Fit until I realized it was probably mine out to pick up a part or something!

Anyway, it feels good to have it done, and the car is in perfect condition. Like an idiot I washed it yesterday only for it to get done again today.

Where do I look to know my build date?
And do you know what the cut-off vin # is for this bumper non-recall?
