Black Inserts Rear Bumper

Black Inserts Rear Bumper
Any thoughts on these... I think they detract from the appearance of the car. The older Fits look much better from the back than the 2015.
I'm thinking of painting them the body color or maybe put a rear fog light in the area if possible. Hum...

My guess...
..they will be gone in 2016. Its uncanny how much better the older models look with out them... I haven't tried to see what if anything is behind them. Maybe they are using them to cover a fastener or something.

A lot of cars have reflectors mounted in their rear bumpers. Make a set of inserts, cover with red reflective tape, and those fake "Lambo Ducts" are suddenly functional, making your car significantly more visible from the rear at night!
You could even add some amber LEDs like these to remedy the "red turn signal" issue!

Thank you for bringing this up MJS.
When the first images of the new Fit emerged over a year ago, the two holes punched out in the back bumper stood out the most to me. They look ridiculous and serve zero purpose. I don't know if Honda was going for a Lambo theme (c'mon, it's a Fit!) or was just trying to add some visual interest, but I think they are hideous.
It's the main reason I purchased the Aegean Blue, because the color hides them effectively (versus the yellow that I really wanted, but also really highlighted these holes)
Either way, they're ugly and make the back look too busy. It's a desperate design tactic that looks amateurish. Get rid of 'em!

I don't mind them. Mine is also White and think it looks fine.
I thought I read somewhere that they were for air to pass through?
Anyhow, I think putting reflective tape will be worse - then there will be too much red back there.

How do you know they'll be gone in 2016? I'd actually consider putting off my car purchase if that's true.

Reflectors low on the bumper really increase visibility at night. Check it out next time you are driving behind cars on on the highway. Even on low beam the bumper reflectors really light up!

My wife's RX has reflectors in the lower rear bumper. When following, they look like real lights. They're pretty bright.

The Fit is not alone with this bizarre trend of scoops and holes for no apparent reason. It seems to be a Japanese thing. Seems like many new Toyotas also have weird stylistic touches that take away from the overall design (case in point, the new Prius C and V's front bumpers)

I suggested reflectors to fill the fake lambo ducts and I realized today that they could be white as well as red, at least in California. Rear reflectors can be white or red!
White reflective material would certainly minimize the appearance of the ducts in daylight.
Can you tell that I'm not fond of nonfunctional gee-gaws?
