I can confirm - we just got the '2018' cover for my wife's 2015 model... fits perfectly, and 'only' around $100. Thanks evilchargerfan - I have refused to pay Honda's ridiculous $200+ fee back when we bought the car, so we've been waiting forever for either a 3rd party version or a price reduction. Who knew Honda would undercut their own product with... the same product?!? Then again, even $100 is kinda ridiculous for what probably costs them $4 to make!
Agreed, with the horrible pricing as the piece is rather cheaply made for how expensive they retail for. I can live $105 but most definitely not $194+.
Yup I do have it book marked, there was a seller there called carpartsconnection that had the aftermarket one for $99 and free shipping, but they are out of stock. Kicking myself for not pulling the trigger faster. They said in the listing it didnt come with any mounting hardware, when in reality it did, just missing the clips that allow it to open with the hatch. I got those clips for 5 bucks. My best friend is the parts manager for a local Honda Dealership where I bought my car from so he hooks me up when I need it. Supposedly it takes 6-8 weeks to restock, and it may not be $99 then.
The hondaparts website you mentioned, the parts manager Louie Moreno emailed me about an hour after I abandoned my web cart, and offered me a 10% coupon on shipping, but I emailed him back and said listen at most should be about 25-30 dollars for shipping to the east coast from CA. For the average online dealer that's what their buying power can get. Now if you get a dealer/company that spends say 2 million with UPS or Federal, that cost drops to like $16 to ship that same package with their volume incentives.
I'm actually a Logistics professional as a day job, and I deal with UPS/Fedex, DHL, freight LTL carriers, truckload, rail etc. I bet you my left nut that this company (and like many others) is marking up their shipping cost from the carrier for a profit. A small parcel cost for a very light but large over 48" x 3"x 3" box about 12 pounds will in reality cost more like a package about 25 pounds due to a thing called 'dimensional weight.' Simple terms, its light, takes up space, awkwardly long, can't stack heavy stuff on it, so carrier charges more, just should be $53 for a zone 7, the farthest distance from an origin point here in the states.
At this point, my comfort zone for the part is $120-130 with shipping included. If its anymore than $150 they can keep it. Though I probably wont wait that long. I really want the cover to prevent prying eyes from seeing stuff in the trunk area, namely my subs. Marked up shipping cost, ridiculous.

And.....just like that, a 15% savings coupon for an OEM came up on ebay, part and shipping total is $127.46. Right where I was comfy paying. Would have loved to pay $99 for product/shipping plus the cost of the clips. Now I can get my 5 bucks back for the clips and buy myself a beer with it!
I probably make my own and fashion a blonde wooden version w stock location pivots and hatch strings. The trickiest part is getting the shape right. I envision somw time with cardboard, cutting and adding to get a shape that matches the hatch.
Or you can go to estorehonda around $130 not including tax but get free shipping if you buy it from your nearest honda. If they don't have it they will ship it to your nearest honda.
