Am I missing a cover under the car?

Edit 8/6/2018: Regarding my 2018... Dealership is telling me that the Honda Parts system only shows the cover in question coming on the LX and Sport cars and none of the EX level will have one. I mentioned if this could be a CVT vs 6MT thing, and he said, no, his research at that moment was that LX and Sport vs EX was the deciding factor. So - my question to EX owners, does anyone have this cover? Part 12 in the picture. Slightly more curious about 2018 and 2019, since they will have the fiber looking underbody panel instead of the plastic. Thanks!

Original Post Below:

Hey All,

2018 EX CVT.

Changing the oil earlier today and happened to look back and it seemed like I could see more hoses and lines than normal. I say normal, but I have only been under this 2018 one previous time.

One bracket has a small hole like it could accept a christmas tree clip or another one of those Honda pronged clips with the screw in the middle. Thanks for looking. Sorry I didn't circle anything in the picture. Basically, it's the mass of hoses going to the back.

Is that looking from the front of the car to the back? If so then yeah you're missing the plastic underbody piece that so many people loathe.

Yes, that is taken from under the oil pan area. I was changing the oil so I had taken off the main plastic panel that you remove when changing the oil. I call the main beam system under the front, the "k member" and from the K member back, along the catalytic, I expected something to be there. I would have expected some form of protection over all those fuel and brake lines. I will continue to google for some underbody images. Thanks!

I just checked using a mirror under the car. You are missing that huge black undercover that covers everything except the catalytic converter.

Fantastic, thank you so much for taking the time to look. Sounds like a trip to the stealership is in order. I'm also missing the bolt head covers on the front of the seat brackets going to the floor. The dealer told me the 2018 didn't have the bolt head covers and they didn't have another 18 on the lot for me to prove them wrong........ Again - Thank you

The seat rails don’t have bolt head covers. I checked when I purchased my EX-L. There’s nothing on the parts diagram and none of the 6 they had in inventory had any.

  • +1 no bolt head covers. It looks kinda ‘unfinished’ because there’s no other raw steel anywhere in the driver/passenger area and then you’re looking at these bolt heads... I can totally understand how you might think that ain’t right. Maybe I’ll paint them black or find a snap on cover to fit. There’s gotta be a black cap out there for this size bolt, Honda part or no. I will update!

I'm going off of what was on my 2015, since it had them. The dealer said if I really wanted them I could take them off my 2015 but I was excited to get as far from the dealer as possible after spending the afternoon there.

Edit: Part 16 https://www.hondapartsnow.com/parts-...nger-side.html
I had totally forgot about looking up the factory parts in regard to both of these parts I have been questioning.

Hi Helios - I forgot about this Honda parts site when I made my original post. Now I need to go look for the panel I was questioning. Part 16 in this page. https://www.hondapartsnow.com/parts-...nger-side.html

Embarrassingly, I forgot how helpful the HondaPartsNow page can be when combined with the awesome FitFreaks.

Looks like I can walk into the dealer with confidence and explain which pieces I am missing. Part 12 in this one....

It’s in the diagram but not on the list below! I didn’t realize previous years had covers. Worth a shot to see if they fit.

Yup, leaving off the bolt covers probably saved Honda all of 15 cents.

Thanks for looking!

This is from a video I took of the underside on one of their LX cars. Seems it has no issue working with the fiber looking underbody cover. This also seems like one more piece of defense against wind or road noise.

Picture is taken from behind the driver side front tire, looking straight across at the passenger side front.

Thank you for taking the time to confirm. Looks like we have confirmed the EX cars do not have this cover.

Based on me checking through all the 2015-2018 FIT LX and EX cars on HondaPartsNow, these rules apply to the rear engine cover, the cover behind the cross member.

EX: No Cover
EX-L: No Cover
EX-L w/Nav: No Cover
LX: Yes Cover
Sport: Yes Cover
Sensing options do not seem to make a difference.
6MT vs CVT do not seem to make a difference.

Now I am curious if there are build location differences.... I am very tempted to buy this cover in the near future. I wonder what Honda engineer would say.

I know this is an older thread, but I recently acquired a 2016 Honda Fit and I believe one of the splash guards/skid plates are missing - I think it's the same one that was missing from the OP's 2018. Attached is a pic of what I'm seeing. The rear is fully covered with plastic and the front center is covered with plastic (please ignore the two silver bolts sticking out of the two rear mounting connections on the back of the front plastic - the retainers are gone so I'm using those temporarily to hold it until I can get something better. I know there are supposed to be plastic "wings" covering the ends of the front axle and it looks like those are readily available (OEM and aftermarket) standalone or together with the center front piece that I still have. What I'm trying to confirm is that there should be another covering in the middle to bridge the gap between the front center plastic and rear plastic. I've looked online and viewed some parts diagrams and the closest thing I can find is the same Part # 12 that was referenced above, although it doesn't really look like that will cover the exposed lines and areas that I would think would be covered. Mine is also an EX which would explain why there is no cover, however, I'm already starting to have some light rust in the exposed area and would love to purchase a plastic shield if one is available.

CyclingFit - did you ever pull the trigger on a replacement cover and if so were you able to successfully mount it?

Thanks in advance for your help.

Photo taken from underneath in the rear facing the front.

Sorry I ghosted the site for a while. Second son born last year…. I never made the purchase. I’m about to get new tires with a goal of “quiet” and maybe I should look into this again.

No worries and congrats on on the second son. I never found any answers or took any further action. I might try to start looking into this again too...might just take it to a dealer and see what they say. Will let you know if I make any progress on my end...
