How often do you use ECO mode?
I bought a used 2017 FIT LX CVT in June. I fill up on the first of the month for July I got 26.66 mpg with econ off. I turned it on when I filled up Aug 1 so I will see if econ make a difference. My driving is pretty steady city driving, went 190 miles in July.. Will report mileage when I fill up Sept 1. to econ difference. The car has 16500 miles on it. My 2015 FIT LX CVT driven the same as I drive now got 30 -33 mpg. but think I had econ on. I am curious what is causing lower gas mileage on this car compared to others here and past experience. Tires are inflated to 37psi, It is about 100 degrees in RGV TX everyday jul-sept.
I mostly to not use ECO mode.
BUT....
I wouldn't even call the throttle response "Sluggish"....IMO..it's actually smoother. The torque might not be as quick, but the ramp up to speed is more linear and smoother.
One could argue, the ECO drive, is more relaxing.
When I do use it, it kind of saves me from myself, no jack-rabbit starts.

I use the ECO mode only in stop-and-go traffic. With ECO mode off, when the car in front of me inches forward about 2 meters, and I step on the accelerator to go forward, that 2 meters, the Fit lurches forward that distance too quickly. An alternative way to avoid lurching forward might be to press on the accelerator pedal more gently, but I find that difficult to press that gently. However even with ECO mode off, the air temperature at any vent, with the AC on, at engine idle, gets too high to maintain the coolness of the air temperature inside the vehicle. So on hot days I turn ECO mode off, even in stop-and-go traffic.
I just bought mine and have only 400 mi but I'm used to having the ECO mode on all the time. Hey I'm comparing this to my 1994 Civic VX (mpg 36/49 due to the VX's lean up circuit technology but only ~85 hp). Fit LX bone stock is a big step up. My first tank o' gas I got an indicated 44.1 mpg (9% city driving) and 46.7 mpg per the gas receipt. I drive slow and buffer in the New England traffic and have a 30 mi OW commute each day on the slab.
