The best AC I've had in a small car was the ACHV in a Suzi SX. The car was slightly larger than the Fit and had 2 liter engine. Cool within a mile (or warm, depending on need).
welcome to my world in south fla

my 2.0 '02 SI had a pretty decent aircon , and the sunroof did alot to exit heat when the car was sitting in the heat for a while . the fit is fairly
wimpy , i imagine it would be worse in Florida . gonna be tinting the windows , should help somewhat

in my 2015 Fit, in 93 degree weather, if it is sunny out, the AC will not cool the cabin down much, however if it is cloudy out, it will feel much more comfortable inside the cabin.. That tells me that the windows are very much a source of heat and that tinting them would help keep the cabin cool. Although it doesn't tell me how much of an improvement you can expect by tinting just the side lights and the rear window. You may need to tilt the biggest piece of glass, the windshield! But of course you can't drive safely with a tinted windshield.

Not only is the windshield the biggest piece of glass but the top of the dash board that is under the windshield, is the hottest surface of all the surfaces inside the car. That thing gets painfully hot.
