Popping on to share the aftermath of a hit and run. I was t-boned by a red light runner while I was turning left. The impact launched my Fit across 3 lanes into oncoming traffic. Dealing with some serious upper back and neck pain along with an ongoing headache but otherwise I'm ok!
Driving myself crazy waiting to hear back from my insurance adjuster so I've been drowning myself in this forum.
@evilchargerfan Whoa, thanks for sharing man. Your damage, from what I can see, looks very similar to mine yea? Since it's taking so long to hear back from my insurance I'm anticipating the worst.
My rental is a Nissan Versa Note and it's such trash
Don't sign any release on medical until you are sure you are OK. Sounds like quite a traumatic accident, and upper back issues and neck issues can be tricky. The body is amazing at "carrying on" and repairing itself. But in a high impact accident, you might be discovering ache's, pains and issues months from now.
My advice is while you are focusing on your next vehicle...also focus on yourself.
To walk a way from a T-Bone, 3 lanes of oncoming traffic accident is a great thing. But you owe it to yourself to make sure you are OK. Sometimes the full picture doesn't develop in that regards until some time has passed.
Yes, my insurance has medical and Texas requires PIP insurance as well.
Honestly that was the first thing my boss told me after the accident (I was right next door to work when it happened). I've had a CT scan and a bunch of xrays and everything is being documented through my doctor. Definitely trying to take care of myself but I'll be honest, this has been pretty overwhelming. I really appreciate you taking the time to respond.
Car repaired after getting t-boned - Unhappy with the work - Feedback Appreciated
I was t-boned on the passenger side in my 2015 Honda Fit EX. It was a hit and run so this is being covered by my own insurance. I picked up my car the other day and I'm not really thrilled with the work. I'm not in collision repair so I don't really know what I'm talking about. However, I'm pretty sure the work should look a little better? Feedback would be appreciated. Taking my car back to the shop tomorrow afternoon. Crossposting this so if you see this elsewhere, hi.
*There are some numbers in red, I'm not sure what all this printout means*
Issues I've noticed...
The front of my car shakes when accelerating and traveling over 60mph
Side mirror casing appears to be damaged, it is cracked and jagged where my drivers side is not
Passenger side rocker panel does not line up flush as it should
Large scratch on the inside of my passenger front quarter glass panel as well as damage to the trim around that window
Seal for the quarter glass panel is popping out at the top
There is chipped and missing paint all around the edges of the new passenger door
The passenger front quarter panel is not fitted correctly and is popping up
The windshield guard/trim is very loose on the passenger side. I think this is creating a ton of extra wind noise that I didn’t have prior.
Gaps between the door and the front quarter panel are significantly different than the drivers side. Where the quarter panel is coming off the gap is much larger and between the door and the quarter panel is very small.
My new passenger door handle doesn’t sound like the rest, there is a weird click/snap when opening
Everything seems to be fixable... to a point. Aside from the chipping paint, the majority of the rest of the issues seem to be 'as expected' in a repair of that magnitude, with some wiggle room for adjustments. Set up a meeting with the repair shop and the Insurance adjuster and provide a written copy of all the things you think are wrong on the fix. After the discussion amend that list and use that as the basis for them to repair the repair. Most repair shops will back their work with some form of warranty. Trim pieces and clean up are easy fixes, getting 100% perfect gaps, seams, and paint are not. Never expect 100% perfection on any repair. Good luck, but act quickly and stay vigilant, but remain within expectations.
This exact situation happened to me in my 2012 Honda Civic. After asking it back to the collision shop multiple times, It was still noisy, sloppy looking in places, and the passenger door had to be slammed really hard to get it to close all the way. I ended up trading it in, at which point the car fax was no longer clean, so they shorted my trade 3k dollars, which I made them put in writing so I could spend the next three months arguing with the other persons insurance over a diminution of value claim. I eventually got the check. Don’t settle with imperfection or it will grate on you for the rest of the time you own the vehicle.
Oh, and they tried to use after market parts at first, but they didn’t fit right so they had to keep filling for more money for genuine Honda parts that did Fit right. Yes, they could use aftermarket, but only if everything fits and looks right. I had to fight with them about that, too.
I wouldn't sign off on the car's paperwork and I'd expect all of the items you had listed (especially the shake and the jack point) be put back to prior to the accident.

In addition it appears that the area for jacking support looks to be less robust than the original area (pre-damage). Is this jacking point stable with the way the work was done?
Car was dropped off two weeks ago. Rep wrote everything down and advised me that they didn't fix my rear alignment because they didn't realize it was damage from the accident. I had to go over my accident again and it feels really frustrating to have to do that. The supplement just came back and the repairs have now reached $11,100.
I don't expect it to be perfect but I also don't expect any new damage and I don't expect my car should have been returned with those issues. I'm leaving a bit of room for error but outside of that they really dropped the ball.
