Unhappy Ooopsie this morning...

Well, I knew it was bound to happen with my commute from hell...

Got into a accident this morning, on my way to work, on the I-90 bridge. Unsure how I did this, probably because I havnt been sleeping well and stress from work, but I blacked out in heavy traffic. My fit decided to change lanes on me and found some loving from a 01 town car.

Town car was scratched... but that was about it. My fit on the other hand has some issues now.

Driver's side 1/4 panel is dented by the door on the lower portion. Scratches on the door, 1/4 panel, bumper and headlight outer convering. I think the 1/4 panel (fender) is pushed back a smudge because the door will no longer open all the way. Also, the driver's wheel rubs the wheel well shroud when I turn it to the right.

Already filed the claim with my insurance company. We shall see what happens now. I shall try and get some kind of pics this evening.

What morning.

Yes, no one was hurt... just my car. Thanks for the post.

I guess I had to learn the hard way of "pull over and get out if your fatigued."

suppose I'll update this.

Went out earlier and re-assessed the damage. Worse than I thought.

Fender is dented at the door, from the line down. Fender is dented where it meets the headlight, in the little corner section. Fender is lifted up about a 1/4 inch from matching the height of the a-pillar.

Rim has scratches/scuffs. Tire still good

Bumper has scratches below the headlight, mid way down, and above the lip. Lip is fine

Door has scratches starting at the fender meet going back almost halfway across the door. Lesser scratches down further along the fender side.

I have pics on my phone but my service has decided taht today I cannot upload them.

Will take pics tonight and post em up.

Tomorrow she goes into the body shop for repairs.

Yeah.. it's ok. Body shop will do her right.

Insurance company stands behind the body shops they use for as long as I own my car.

Anyways, here are the pics.

Softie huh?

Are you in bldg 4 or 8 by any chance? there is a VBP that parks there.

That is one hell of a drive! I commute from Bonney Lake to main campus. . . 1.5 hours each way.

Angry Update!!!!!

Well, car is finally back in my hands and wouldn't you know it? It has to leave them again! Yes! Again! ARRRRRRRGH!!!

This time it isnt my fault. I pick car up from shop this morning, notice sticky substance on mirror, they clean off substance, I pay deductable and go to work. On my way to work (btw, car was soaked with water when I got it, it rained good last night) I notice, now that the window is dry, there is more sticky stuff on the driver's window. I'm a little ticked, but I figured I'd wash it off at home. I had to use my wipers and I hear a slight scraping sound (ever run your wipers over ice?). I use the washer fluid and still hear the noise. Sun hits my windsheild, and as I'm pulling down the pass. side visor, I see some crap on my windsheild. It don't clean off... then I get a good look at it, wouldn't ya know? traffic stopped for me.

I'd recognize that crap anywhere, paint overspray!!! WTF??!!?

It goes from the top of the windsheild to the base, from the pass side a-pillar to 1/4 away across the windsheild. Also notice some on the lower portion of the driver's side windsheild.

Well, I'm not a happy camper folks. Called the shop and the insurance guy said bring it on in... I'm in Redmond... he's in tacoma... NOT doing the 1+ drive back...

Car will go back to the shop tomorrow morning... ugh!

I'm going to push to have her down by tomorrow afternoon, this has ticked me off.

Thanks for reading my rant.

I'm in bldg 8 (LCA procurment) a-ryanka

Overspray is a pain. you can clean it off with a razor, but it shows the quality of work you will get on the entire vehicle. The shop sucks. Your insurance co. should be able to let you go somewhere else if they do bad work. (let the insurance company fight it!)

I go west lake tapps highway, 18, issaquah Hobart road, 90, 156th

You may find that 512, 18, issaquah hobart (or 90), 156th is faster.

No HOV = no problem

no excuse for overspray...

overspray wow I am sorry to hear that.... there is no excuse for that. The guy I go to for paint tapes off the area then in addition to that he sprays a soapy water on the remnant. Paint does not stick to the spray...
In general people do not give thanks and apprecation to autobody workers for the job they do. tell every one about this if you feel they dont make it correct. I sure hope that is the only thing they did second class. take care...

Yeah, I am making sure the insurance guy goes over the car with a fine tooth comb. He has an office at the shop so he is supposed to oversee all of the work done there. If stuff isnt right when I get it this time, I'm filing a formal complaint with the insurance co.

Thumbs up Update2

YAY!!!!!! It's finally done with the body shop!!! Woohoo!!

Took it in this morning with plans on leaving it there all day. Insurance guy comes out, looks at it and says, should be done in about 25 minutes. Ok, I'm down with that. Ride leaves and I wait.

Now something new popped up on my way home last night... driver's headlight all out of whack. The beam is directly on the road, in front of the bumper and a lighter secondary beam is off to the left (foggy weather showed me this). Confused and pissed, I get home and fume for a bit.

Anyways, tell the insurance guy about the headlight and he gets a questionable look on his face. They take the car back, have to work on headlight first since paint booth in use. About 30 minutes later insurance guy comes back and says, "The headlamp casing we got from honda (the dealer) somehow had the bulb itself installed in-correctly (sweet! not!). In order to remove the entire casing, the bumper cover has to come off and the rear part of the fender (????). The technician is trying to adjust the bulb without removing the casing." About 20 minutes later insurance guy says, "ok, headlight fixed car is going to the paint shop now." "ok." 25 minutes or so later, car rolls around from paint shop, guy gets out, hands me the keys and wishes me a nice day. No more stuff on windsheild or window. Woohoo for me!!!!
