2019 Sport defected paint

I've only had the car for one month and there already are rust spots showing up. But worse than that is that the paint is bubbling up on the hood, doors, roof, and rear spolier and exposing bare metal. I've already made my warranty claim.

I'm guessing it's white in color? Put up some pictures.

That's too bad.
You're not the first person to have complaints.
My speculative contention is that in recent years the switch to more "Eco" friendly paint and clear coat compounds have produced less durable end products.
The general consensus, some better, some worse, is that Honda Fit paint simply is not the best. With more complaints coming from certain colors.

I had a problem in the last decade with a new Toyota that developed spots that looked all the world to be rust spots coming up from below the clear coat.
I got no support from Toyota as they simply claimed it was some "outside" contaminate. Thus denying any warranty covered support.

Fought for months, just trying to figure out what to do. Basically with a brand new car, nobody really wants to paint it, because the idea is that no aftermarket paint job is as good as the factory paint job. Even those willing to do so? For a GOOD paint job, it's an expensive proposition.

Finally, I found a good bodyshop/paint shop, with the help of my Auto Insurance Company, that correctly diagnosed the problem. It was some type of outside contaminant, that had worked it's way into the clear coat. They were able to carefully buff them all out. But MOST of the bodyshop's and paint shops I took the vehicle to, had no idea what was going on.

Even though it turned out Toyota was right, that it was an outside contaminant, my feeling is that the clear coat was way too soft. It basically was no defense, and actually worked as a medium that seemed to accept the contaminant and protect IT.

So anyway, good luck getting warranty support. My experience is it's VERY difficult to get automakers to admit it's their problem.
My further experience is you need to find a really good paint expert, that can tell you exactly what is going on.
Many places will be either very willing to charge you a LOT of money to repaint OR just very hesitant to repaint.
As it turned out for me, thankfully before I shelled out for a whole new paint job, I found someone that really could diagnose the problem and offer a much cheaper solution.

I'd agree with the Eco comment. If Fit paint isn't the best (and I'd agree with that) then who does do a really good job on paint?

All companies have switched to water based paint AFAIK...it is the law (again afaik).

Fit paint is generally fine. Honda paint has never been known to be their strongest quality.

I have a 2019 EX in white. I'd really like to see some of your paint defects in pictures and I'll catalog mine now with pictures to capture time zero before Winter and the salt onslaught.

If as stated in this thread...all companies have gone to water based paints and compounds...then maybe all paint jobs right now aren't as good as older paint jobs that used more tested, vetted and durable compounds...that weren't as earth friendly.
I had trouble with my Toyota.
My 2016 Honda Fit-Black.
It's OK at this point, but it does seem to chip rather easily. I wouldn't call it extremely durable. Knock on wood, so far no bubbling of clear coat or really major problems, but it's is aging. I've got more chips than I would like, and in the right light it reveals a lot of spider web swirls.

Have a white 2019 sport that is garaged 90% of the time and seems to have tiny specs of rust colored specs developing on the roof. I'm able to scrub them off with extreme effort and careful buff/wax afterwards to protect the area, but now I'm concerned this could actually be rust??? In southern california on a garaged car?

I'll be keeping a close eye on my paint. If anyone else has photos of the issues I'd love to see them.

Really loving this car so far I hope this doesn't become a wide spread issue. I'd be hard pressed to put a value on repainting a brand freaking new car. I'd probably fight for some kind of trade in or buy back.
