ECO Green/Blue Light Staying Blue
ECO Green/Blue Light Staying Blue
Our 2018 FIT light for ECO used to turn Green and change to Blue when going up a grade or accelerating fast. Was always fun trying to keep it green all the time. Now it just stays blue all the time and never turns green at all? Is there something wrong??? Do I need to take it to the dealer? Car only has 25,000 on it.
I have a 2016, not a 2018, so might be different. On mine, the colors on the side of the speedometer needle (3 and 9 o'clock positions) change color according to demands on the engine. The ECO light stays green as long as it's on and doesn't change colors.
Colors beside speedometer
Yes the lights left & right of speedometer are exactly what I'm talking about. They stay blue all the time now. They used to switch to green when not pushing and driving fast. This 2018 FIT only has 25,000 miles so to me it's odd having this issue. Wondering what's causing this?
Good question! I assume you're not flooring the gas pedal as soon as you start the engine, so it sounds like you have defective color changes. If you're under warranty, you can have it checked out at a dealer. You could also contact Honda corporate for assistance, might be something as simple as a software flash.
Nope driving normally not flooring. Software flash? Is that like a rebooting the computer? Is there a way to do that without having the dealer do that? I didn't even realize that Honda corporate would be an option on something like this. Thanks for your replies.
I WISH I could get mine to stay blue, I HATE the green!!!! I have no need to have lights telling me when I'm driving economically or not, I know htf to drive. Stupid gimmick, that is all.
Software flash is just an idea, but has to be done through a dealership. The idea is the hardware might be OK but the software needs attention. Honda corporate is a good place to start. They will most likely direct you to a dealer for whatever fix is needed.
I would say if the light is stuck on blue...that is NEVER turning green, even if you get up to a speed and then coast...the something is wrong.
Still under bumper to bumper warranty...I would just have it looked at and fixed.
You hope it's something simple.
But in any case, yeah...it should change colors. If it isn't? Especially while still under warranty, go have it looked at and fixed.

Did you ever resolve this issue? I had the same problem last fall with my 2016 EX, 34-36k miles. First, I had several dash warning lights come on and off intermittently through the summer (check engine, tire pressure, TCM, and power steering lights.) The dealership told me it was a computer glitch. They reset something, the lights came back on a week later, and I ignored them. Then in October I noticed the ambient lights stayed blue, even when I was driving down a mountain road with my foot off the accelerator. Regardless, the car seemed to be driving fine...until it suddenly wouldn’t accelerate and left me stranded 300 miles from home.
Long story short, the entire fuel injection system needed to be replaced. The repair cost $2000, and of course, I was out of warranty. However, the dealership helped me get financial assistance from Honda corporate, so I paid $400 instead. The dealership confirmed my research that 2015 and early 2016 models have a bad fuel injection system. They told me 2017 models have a completely different system that is not compatible with a 2016, but there are retro-fitted parts for the ‘15/16 models.
Anyway, I hope you have better luck with your vehicle than me, or just as much good luck as I did with your own service department.
