Random dash lights
Random dash lights
I have a 2016 Honda Fit with 26700 miles on it. I love this car. But two weeks ago the check engine light started to come on intermittently, sometimes it stayed on for a day or two and sometimes only a short time. Yesterday my tire pressure light came on but I checked the tire pressure in each tire and they are correct. Today I noticed that when I have my headlights in the “auto” position where they have always been, when you shut the car off the light on the dash indicating that the headlights are on stay on when you turn the car off even though the actual headlights are off. The dash light goes off if I turn it from auto to off. The only thing I have had done recently was an oil change...what the heck is going on. The car runs fine, sounds fine and handles fine. No odd noises.
Welcome. The check engine light is not a good sign and needs further investigation.
All modern cars store error codes in the onboard OBDII computer. You'll need to pull the codes and find out what's going on there. Until then, everything is a guess.
If you have an auto parts store nearby, they will often scan codes at no charge. Otherwise a dealer or independent can scan for you, but it might not be at no charge.
