Gear Shifter Light

Hi All,

New here after purchasing a 2020 EX-L. Been getting to know my car this past week and found some quirks I wasn't expecting - one being that the gear shifter doesn't light up when the headlights are on. Is this how all 2018's-20's are or is something wrong here? I just find it odd since in rummaging through threads, it seems like older generations are lit.

Having a hard time understanding what you’re talking about specifically. Do you mean the shifter knob/stick or something else?

Also are you in a CVT or 6MT version?

The best I can guess is that you’re in a CVT and you’re used to an illuminated indicator. I think the majority of vehicles don’t have an illuminated indicator, and despite being a higher trim, its still an econobox so save money where they can. For our Fits if you have a CVT the gear indicator is only shown in the tachometer on the left, and if you’re a 6MT you don’t get anything.

That being said there’s a small LED that illuminated the console I believe, and if you want to Jazz (haha.) it up there’s an accessory illuminated console kit you can install. Check it out here as an example. This isn’t on the indicator but it’s close enough to maybe shine some light that way? I havn’t ever seen this kit installed in real life so I can’t say for sure.

Anyways, congrats on your Fit, let us know what happens

I have the 2017 LX CVT. The shift lever and or the indicator of which gear you are in does not light up. In the left rpm gauge it shows which gear you are in. Example, D for drive.

I'm assuming you have a CVT. There is a gear indicator on the dashboard.

I still say OP should try to fashion that lit crystal ball on their shifter, even if cvt. Nothing says class like bubbles in the glass. :P lol
