Upgrade to more powerful A/C?

Is it possible to upgrade the cooling power of the Fits a/c system?

I notice Carid sells 3rd party compressors. Could you bolt on a Civic Compressor for stronger cooling?

Yes, I know about the exon button.

Small displacement engines like the Fit are underpowered from an A/C standpoint. The canopy of glass doesn't help.

If you install a bigger compressor, you'd be robbing the engine of motive power, and it doesn't have a lot of reserve. The decision might be to use the A/C or execute a tight freeway merge, but not at the same time.

I think your best bet is passive measures - tinting, dash screens, etc.

Ya like said above there is nothing to upgrade unless you shopping for larger engine vehicles. I limo tinted mine and added a dash mat to keep the heat down in my Fit. It works pretty well.

I'm in central Florida, and the FIT A/C is just barely enough in the summer.
Back when I had my 2008, I had it tinted, and that helped a lot.
The 2015 came with factory tint, so it was acceptable from day one.

Thanks for all the replies. I am suprised that none of the 3rd party compressors are stronger than the Fit's.

I have really dark rear and hatch windows tint. Do those clear ceramic windshield tint films help keep it cooler while driving to a noticeable degree?

Would a dash merkin help keep the car cooler?

Move to a colder climate, or buy a larger car.

Windshield shade has helped a lot. And obviously if you can park in the shade. I find the A/C works fine once everything in the car cools down but there's so much dark plastic that can take more than a few minutes. I sometimes start out driving with the A/C on full (to cool the ducts) and the windows open (to cool down all the hard surfaces). Unfortunately I don't have a garage so my car's in the sun most of the day.

My wife’s ‘10 Kia Forte SX has MUCH stronger AC, and heat as well, compared to my ‘15 Fit...just chalk it up to more glass and smaller compressor on Fit’s 1.5 liter... her Forte has a 2.4 liter four... not huge but a lot bigger than the Fit... LOL... I don’t care THAT much, will drive with windows down to initially help remove interior heat, and proceed from there. I like her Forte (the SX engine is decently powerful), but I love my Fit, just a better all around car for me. I have a seat cover of sorts in the Fit her friend gave her, just two parts- back and bottom, nothing sticking over the sides, has heat, blows “cool”(ambient) air, and has vibrators... and doesn’t look out of place, just covers the flat center part of the bottom and back. The vibrators are slightly lumpy, but feel good after a long shift

Hello guys, I'm from Rio de Janeiro (there are only two climate options here - Heat, 95ºF or Inferno, 109ºF) and I am following this air conditioning problem for you. There are also many complaints here, and the system is the same as the Honda HRV. I have a 2015 Fit, I'm mad at Honda. One of the things I did to soften was to apply a 3M Crystalline film to the windshield and put a carpet with ceramic coating on the panel and a ceramic coating on the low pressure tube. My old 13 Fit was much better, the compressor was Sanden. Now it's from Denso. I thought about putting the Sanden compressor, but the dimensions of the piping are different, even the evaporator is different, in 2015 it is smaller than 2013.
