Hi and thank you. However the item , emergency lever in the diagram above is Not in my Honda Fit exl 2016 . There is no release button in the Glove Compartment , as there is in some models . There does not appear to be any way to open this manually or in emergency mode ??? There is no Access Panel in the Hatch wall as there seemed to be in a previous model . This is crazy , there has to be some way to open this thing ??

it's not on the wall, it's on the white plastic part on the latch. it's tiny and very hard to miss.

Read this here

Op read this and do this in said sequence. It's not just common with the Fit, it happens on every other honda with a hatch style rear end. Hit the unlock twice, the little pull handle you pull towards you, push it forward (towards the front of the car) lock, lock, then unlock. Repeat until it fixes if you have too. Sometimes the latch doesn't 100% go back to its position so it's sitting a midway to open/close. That's why it won't do that. Just the handle yoy have to push forward away from you.

Thank you for the help but neither answer is really applicable ...looks like . This is a Fit with Keyless Entry . There is not really a handle / latch on Hatch, just two buttons . The plastic cover shown in the diagram above is not there in my Fit ( Exl Fit 2016/ Keyless Entry ). None of the solutions so far apply to this particular model , seems the Keyless Entry makes the difference. Thanks again for the help .

I don't know of any Honda Fit/Jazz that uses an electrical actuator for trunk release, I could be mistaken but AFAIK every Fit uses a little handle to open the hatch. Can you take a photo of the hatch area like in the video? Just angled up from the licence plate area? Not sure about these buttons you're talking about but a photo might get everyone on the same page.

Hi and thank you howarejew etc , that is the difference, Keyless Entry is done differently and there does not seem to be a method, procedure to open the hatch if the buttons where you lift the hatch and remote don't open it ? there has to be some emergency way to open the hatch manually ?? I thought there must be a hidden keyhole or some such secret way to open it , apparently not . Even the dealer has no idea how to open it . I can't get the panel off the back hatch with the hatch closed and stuck . I am really , really puzzled ?? any help would be appreciated . Thank you very much for trying to help . Still puzzled !!!

Hi there , Yeaaaa !!! it worked , your detailed photo did the job. I want to express my thanks to all of you and especially to Howarejew...I owe you my friend !! Even the dealer did not have a solution , did not know that this little latch existed !!! Dealer had no clue how to open it .
Just one more thing . It it a solenoid or a little motor that actually opens and closes the lock ? Or possibly a cable that activates the lock . . I've ordered the lower part , the part with the hatch so I will know when I see it .
Thank you again for all the help and especially for the photo , that nailed it !!!

Lock

Hi , will do . Now that we can open it we can figure out what went wrong . I wondered if it's a Solenoid or a little Motor that actually activates the latch or a Cable like the older ones. I assume it is all electronic without a cable involved ?
Thank you again my friend . I'll post when I find out why it stuck in the first place .

With keyless its actuated by a solenoid. Take the panel off the hatch and youll see it. To test, take the connector off and apply 12v to the 2 pins and see if it pops.
Thanks for the photo Azuki im too lazy to out to my car to take one.

Hi there fellow FitFreaks , Good news from Magoo. Thanks to all your help, and NONE from Honda we got the lock going again. I got the handle/ switch installed . We tried hooking 12 Volts pins on the lock itself . There are two plastic wire connectors going to the lock itself one is a bit bigger than the other . Applying 12V to one made it click , no click when connected to the other so we were a bit confused ....I'm easily confused lol. So decided to get the lock back in , handle on , the cover for the hatch and when everything was reinstalled we tried the locks again and ...guess what . Everything worked as normal .
One important point is that until the lock wa on and connected and the handle with the two ( one long flat switch and the other little round switch ) pushbutton switches was back in and connected it seemed like it wasn't working. With everything installed and plugged in my hatch lock is working perfectly again. . It was the long switch at the handle that was not working . The little round button actually clicked with 12 V applied , the longer switch made no click .
One more time lads , thank you for all the help . Maybe Honda should send a notification to their clueless Dealers pointing out the emergency unlock mechanism in the lock itself that you gentlemen informed me about . Maybe it's something a guy working at a Dealership service center should know about ....Duh...as Homer would say.

Yay! Nice fix dude! Lol sometimes when ya wanna get done right. That’s a really complicated system. My mother’s car had something similar with buttons instead of a handle, but I’m used to mechanical linkages on the hatch and didn’t realize there was so much going on. Lol if it happens again to someone, we know who to ask now good job my dudes!

Question How did you do it??

So glad you figured this out! I am having the same problem right now unfortunately!! I am open to open the back "A" panel but there is nothing to "turn clockwise" in there- what did you do once you opened the maintenance cover?
Thank you!!
