2016 Fit LX hatch question

Does anyone know how to unlock the hatch of a 2016 LX without using the key? The reason why I ask is because an unfortunate incident led to our battery becoming completely dead. While we were able to open the driver's side door we were unable to open the hatch. Couldn't find anything in the manual that made any sense.

I do not believe you can. There is no lock mechanism on the hatch door, (or passenger door). There is no release mechanism from within the car, either on the hatch door or near the driver compartment.

You'll need a battery.

If its same as the 2015 Fit, there is a manual way to open it. Its in the manual.

Unfortunately, the manual does not apply to anything that actually exists on my hatch. It's just seems to be boilerplate.

It's in the manual, in the "Handling the unexpected". You can open it from inside the trunk area, not from the outside.. There is a lever you can slide. It's located near the bottom of the door where the hatch and body meet.

I just searched the 2016 Owners Guide and Owners Manual. Couldn't find anything about a manual way to release the tailgate. Maybe a design change between 2015 and 2016?

Page 429 of the Owners Manual. Illustrated, but not well.

Confirmed.

There is a tiny plastic access tab on the white translucent plastic lock cover. It is easy to overlook. You'll need a small screwdriver to open the cover and then move the lever. Maybe a key will do, because no small screwdriver comes with the Fit's tools.

Thanks for the tip.
