I was wondering if anyone else has encountered this problem. I have a 2009 Honda Fit Sport and I can not get the door of the hatch to open. When I press on the key/remote nothing happens. I can't find any way inside the car to open the hatch. Any ideas or suggestions? Thanks

 

Can you tell if the lock actuator is "trying" to unlatch? If it is you may have a stuck latch mechanism.

If you think this is a possibility, give the body a "twist" by stopping on a driveway apron at a 45 degree angle. Then pop the unlock mechanism, see if the hatch releases.


Doesn't the door lock switch in the car unlock the hatch in your '09?

If you DO get it unstuck, be sure to lubricate the latching mechanism (and the passenger and hood releases, also).

 

Not 100% sure on the GE but on GDs there is a rubber plug in the middle of the hatch door. Pry out the plug then insert a screwdriver into the hole to release the latches holding the hatch closed.
