Brake pad replacement

I can't seem to find in the manual roughly when brake pads should be replaced, probably because that varies so much by how the car is used. What are your experiences?

74K miles. No indications that they need to be replaced. I do a lot of highway driving.

Depends on many factors. Good quality brakes can go 50k. Replace them before 3mm left.

I replace my brake pads every 50k miles; if you're looking for an affordable, good quality brake pad that doesn't coat your wheels with brake dust, I'd highly recommend Powerstop's carbon ceramic brake pads. A set of four cost me about $60, and the compound keeps your wheels free from brake dust.

Thanks. I'm about to hit 50k, and my annual visit is in June. I trust my mechanic, so he can have a look. I've never been someone who brakes hard, but do drive largely stoplight to stoplight.
